CAGAYAN DE ORO -- Two Swedish nationals were sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court here on Tuesday for operating a cybersex den and employing minors to pose naked before foreign clients.

Judge Jeoffre W. Acebido of Misamis Oriental Regional Trial Court branch 41 found Swedish national Bo Stefan Sederholm, 31, and Emil Andreas Solemo, 35, guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of trafficking in persons.

Also meted with 20 years imprisonment for same offense were three Filipinos, namely: Andrea Galdones Romero, Arvy Pablo Baylon and Aminoding Lomangcolcob Rangaig.

The court fined Sederholm and Solemo P2 million each, while their Filipino cohorts were ordered to pay P1 million each.

In its 25-page decision, the court said, "It will not shirk from its duty to impose the most severe of penalties against anybody, be he a foreign national or a citizen of this country who tramples upon the dignity of a woman by taking advantage of her vulnerability."

The court added that the foreign nationals "should not abuse the hospitability and protection accorded to them during their temporary stay in the country by making it a haven for their criminal activities."

"Disrespect for Filipino women and violations of our laws deserve the strongest condemnations from this court," it added.

On April 23, 2009, police arrested the Swedish nationals and three Filipinos at a cybersex den located in a middle class subdivision along Kauswagan highway, where 17 minor models were found naked while video chatting with foreign clients.

One of the models told police that the Swedish nationals offered them P15,000 each in exchange for posing nude in front of the web camera.

Authorities recovered during the raid computers, web cameras, a satellite dish and a powerful cable antenna along with a whole gallery of sex toys.

Jose Justo Yap, National Bureau of Investigation regional director, said the two foreign nationals will be committed to Bureau of Corrections in Muntinlupa or to the Davao Penal Colony where they will serve their sentences. (Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro/Sunnex)

This is all BS, the girls were not under aged, its just an example to scare of foreigners to do this type of business there.

I know that when they started the studios they were working on 3 sites including my old system and know the guys well enough they would not dare to put under aged girls online.

The PH justice needed to have 5 people to make it a human traffic case and pressured 3 PH girls who were running the studios to testify against the SE owners in exchange of lower sentences.

Just an example how far the PH government goes to put them away. Imagine that a murderer gets there max 40 yrs.

There was 17 girls working in that studio. suddenly two years later it turns out not one is of age, really not even a single 18 year old? i dont buy it. they need to sell the public that sentence, justify the severity of this punishment.

Yeah, I get it. Philippines is corrupt. As I've said myself, the reason they're ranked 4 in the world for corruption is because they bribed the people who made the list to knock them down 3 places.

But unless you (and others) are seriously arguing that no crimes ever occur in a corrupt nation - that they are all fabricated because everyone is corrupt - I don't see what justification there is for not believing that these guys are guilty.

Reality is poor standards of law enforcement and high levels of corruption and poverty increase the likelyhood of criminal behavior, they don't lessen it.

chances are they were actually underage and all using fake id.. Probably without the swedes knowledge , BUT they probably should have known better. I've run into so many Phillipina chat spammers working various chat rooms across the web over the last few years, and many of them look very underage. They came to the Phillipines though because they get the girls cheap and the right ones can look very young. I'd bet anything what Smokey said above happened, poverty drives these girls to do just about anything to make some money for their family.

For all of these reasons:

1) They knew girls are underage and up until they got caught, no one cared.

2) Many older girls allow younger cousins and sisters to use their accounts.

3) False IDs, which are VERY easy to get in the Philipines. Even I have a fake Filipino NBI card that is so good, unless you know what you're looking for, you'd never know it wasn't the real thing.

Many of the Philippine porn sites are full of this shit too. Who's going to call them on it and prove it? No one.
