Where To Stay In Hong Kong?
Im in Hong Kong for a week next month.
Is Kowloon the place to be? Whats a good hotel (3/4 star) under $1000 HKD near the action? |
I was there in 1977 !
Cant afford to go there now though... |

If you had gone there in say 2010, youd have been good prospect for advice :1orglaugh |
Depends really what you mean by "the action".
If you mean bars, then Wanchai is closest. |
The Peninsula Hotel
|
Find a nice hotel in the mid-levels and use taxis or call-in services.
|
the action is in Wan Chai area...
I stayed in Grand Hyatt in that area... |
The Ching Chong Inn is pretty good.
|
where ever the sluts are standing and saying me luv you long time.

Personally speaking, Kowloon Shangri-La is my favourite, especially their Chinese cuisine! :thumbsup |

+1 for wanchai.. although plenty of hookers in kowloon as well but the little bars are in wanchai.. Anything bigger than a pub is mostly filled with not so pretty bar girls though..

Which other parts are important to visit? |
The Peninsula is the place in Kowloon side. The air near the water is much better, because frankly the air in HK is absolute shit.
Shangri-La Kowloon has a great dinner/lunch buffet. Grand Hyatt on HK side is OK. Personally, I'd recommand to stay in Tsim Tsa Tsui and take a taxi to HK side if you need some entertainment. |

Bad advice about Tsim Tsa Tsui, you don't need a trip all the way there after a night out. Grand Hyatt is a lot more than OK btw. It was about 4000 to 4500 HKD per night last time I stayed there but it is a 5 minute walk from what then were the best bars. At a lower price, check out the Excelsior in Causeway Bay. Harbour view rooms, nice easy walk to Times Square, 5 mins by taxi to Wanchai and great restaurants. I switched to the executive floor here when I realised that I could save 1000+ a night plus be treated exceptionally well. A standard room with harbour/Kowloon view (believe me it is worth paying for and will set you up for feeling Hong Kong) should only be about 2000 a night. Man, I love Hong Kong. |
