laptop surgery: replace the inverter or the backlight?
 

screen went black, can barely see what's on there but i can still see it with a flashlight. got the screen apart now, which should i replace? lcd screen is fine, it's either the inverter or the backlight.

I'd bring them to a shop and get them to test.

Check to see if there's voltage leaving the inverter.

well, crud, that sounds good but i have the machine apart. :( maybe i should just get both the inverter and the backlight, replace both while i'm in here.

If you figure it out, let me know. I have a laptop in the garage that I tried and tried to get fixed (same issue) and I FAILED. :(
