Who's using what for streaming videos?
So who's using what for streaming videos?
I'm thinking about using the wowza server to stream mp4s. But I would have to buy two licenses for my video servers. I could do lighttp, with a psuedo stream for free. What are your setups? |
Bump for some feedback. Thanks.

hey man, if you are interested we have setup a mainstream company to stream peoples videos for them. Kind of like a CMS that streams video for you, lets you do everything
embeds, five it out to people etc etc |
Probably a server of some kind, and a player? I dunno...
Just ask a tube? They seem to have it off pat... |

I use lighttpd, no complaints.
|
I like lighttpd, not many complaints about it, but yes, Wowza or Adobe FMS are the way to go. Also you may consider Red5. It's free, but it's kinda difficult to setup. Yet, is the one used by Facebook, so it really works.
Alternatively, you could just use a CDN, depending on your needs it might be the better route |
So from what I read, Wowza will hand out the right formats to iphones, etc. and to web. It does sound like the best way to go.

Jay, Wowza is a great option. We have setup many clients with Wowza and we have stress tested it greatly. It is capable of handling a huge number of connections while using a low number of resources.
