right click at the top, uncheck "tabs on top".
if you don't like something, figure out how to change it, come on it's not that hard, there's probably a thousand google results already explaining how to change what you want

It's been over a month and I still can't open a new tab window in FF... have no idea. Also when I sign on I get an error message each time, trying to upgrade the version and if I click yes it all shuts down...

lol, disable auto update ... missing yer status bar? there is a fix ... but, now you need an addon to get yer status bar back - doh
they better slim it ... the cpu hawging is pretty annoying :/There aren't enough faces and palms on this planet for an appropriate reaction to religion.

You don't need plugin for status bar.
Status bar exists and you can enable it in a menu.
go to: View > toolbars > Add-on bar or simply press CTRL + /
