Is There A Program tubes Use To Control Their Video Quality?
I mean something that will control how long they stream before the loading icon pops up? I think some of these tube sites do this on purpose to control their bandwidth consumption.

Most players have a setting that keeps the preloading buffer at predefined level.

we use Wowza for this..

Alot of sites running lighttpd for the streaming throttle each users connection to around 100k/sec to save bandwidth.
If a user has say a 100mbit connection, loads up a 10minute video and watches 10 seconds of it before changing to another vid, without any sort of throttling he might have downloaded say 3-4 minutes of the video, leaving us with alot of wasted bandwidth. Thus, some sites setup throttling on the httpd so that its fast enough to stream but not fast enough to buffer ahead too far. Or like Godsmack said, Wowza/FMS is true streaming which also doesn't let it prebuffer too far. |
Well if they use this why don't they advertise their upgrade sales better? I mean why don't they have a tired of waiting type of banner under every video?

Some tubes expect the scene to be encoded in a certain format & sizing, bit rate etc.
