Medical marijuana expo

Very interesting... wasn't familiar with this: http://medcancup.com/san-francisco/

It's happening 2 miles away from the YNOT Summit hotel and also happening in late June. I might have to go and check this out and stay an extra day...

From the Event FAQ:

Quote:

Do I need to be a medical marijuana patient to attend?

The expo and party will be open to all adults.

An outdoor Prop 215 section of the expo facility will be available and will accommodate the needs of California medical marijuana patients. Medical professionals will be available on site.
I take "Medical professionals will be available", to possibly mean that people may be able to obtain a Medical Marijuana card onsite, which is good for Californians. I'll try and contact the organizers for clarification, and to find out what out-of-state people will need to do.

Click HERE for more info about obtaining a medical cannabis card

The following Clinic offers MMC evaluations, and is not too far (less than a mile) from the YNOT Summit location:

http://www.potdoc.com/

There are several close by MM Dispensaries/Clinics too, for anyone who already has a CA Medical Marijuana card, however, it is wise and sometimes necessary (as in mandatory) to have the signed form you get from your doctor (or the eval clinic) with you, at least the first time you visit a new clinic (they will tell you if you need to bring it in the future, or if your MM ID card will suffice).

Locations nearby the YNOT Summit which I recommend, include:

The Green Door - SF

The Green Cross

Or, you can always consult good ol' Weed Maps.

Yeah, well I had some out of state friends decide that any gray areas should work in their favor and ended up arrested. Take this as your warning, if it is a "gray area" presume it does not mean you can do whatever you want.

Question...

Say you have a legitimate excuse (:1orglaugh:1orglaugh) and have a "prescription" for medical marijuana. However, you work for a company and they drug test you. You get tested and test positive for THC... they can you for being a pot head.

Would you have any recourse because you had a prescription?

Hmm... I think I need to go to bed and stop thinking for the day

I'm not a lawyer, but I believe a company in most circumstances can fire an employee that fails a drug test, if drug testing is required for the job. Here is something I found on the subject:

Quote:

SB420 (the California's Medical Marijuana Law) does not require accommodation of medical use of marijuana at any place of employment. Under Mower, patients may have a strong argument in state court that medical marijuana recommendations should be respected. However, employers have broad discretion to reject job applicants in pre-employment tests.

Prop 215 is no defense where drug testing is required under federal regulations. If you must take a drug test, the best defense is a Marinol prescription.

Anyone faced with such a situation should consult one of the many resource sites on the web or seek legal counsel if they feel it is necessary.

Here are a few good Cannabis Resource websites:
