Actress Nell Carter Dead At 54
Actress-Singer Collapses, Found By Son

Actress Nell Carter, who starred in the television comedy "Gimme A Break," died at her Beverly Hills home Thursday of natural causes, her publicist announced. She was 54.

Carter had won an Emmy for her role in "Gimme a Break!" and a Tony for her performance in the Broadway musical "Ain't Misbehavin."

The actress-singer collapsed and was found by one of her 13-year-old adopted sons.

I saw her when I was a kid in the tour company of 'Aint Misbehaving and she was incredible. I was just telling my husband about her last night because I was remembering how she was the first BBW I ever saw on tv...freaky.

Yet another wakeup call for the morbidly obese.

last I saw her she had lost a lot of weight..not skinny by any means but no where near where she once was. Anyway, skinny celebs drop dead all the time at equally young ages.

Bummer...another tv has been bites the dust...

Yeah, I guess so. But didn't she also have diabetes? I remember her doing some commercials about it a while back.

Too bad...well at least she'll never get the chance to degrade herself on SATR DATES now....

For that she shuold be blessed...RIP Nell....
