Was I this fucked up in my 20's?

My daughter introduced me to a new dance that's catching on called shuffling. I've never heard of it and now I wish I hadn't. They look fucking ridiculous but she thinks it's the coolest shit ever. Kids these days are interested in the dumbest shit.

Couple of them look like they are having a fit while dancing.

seeandsee 04-30-2011 11:07 AM

Not the baddest type of dance i ever saw

alias 04-30-2011 11:08 AM

I can't fap to this.

TripleXPrint 04-30-2011 11:08 AM

Thanks for embedding the vid, Chosen.

They look like they're trying to do the running man while cabbage patching or having an epileptic fit. The girls were cute, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they look like bloody idiots!

LeRoy 04-30-2011 11:08 AM

Nordic Trak has come a long way

alias 04-30-2011 11:09 AM

If your daughter is into this type of dancing she is probably using drugs, just a heads up. :2 cents:

~Ray 04-30-2011 11:11 AM

it's new... new doesn't mean bad.

Exactly, she is the one that made me think of drugged up candy ravers.

Yeah, I know. We talk about it all the time. We have a great relationship and I have my past, so she feels comfortable talking to me about it. She can't talk to her mother about anything. She's 18 now and has drank, smoked pot, used oxy/roxy, ecstacy, and K2 (not sure what K2 is). Even doing all that, she graduated with a 3.7 and was accepted at the University of Texas starting this Fall. I'd rather share my experiences with my daughter than have her hide it from me and go off the deep end. She knows that she can call me whenever she feels uncomfortable and I'll be there in a heartbeat to pick her up.

whats wrong with exploring what you or your body can do in a fun way?
any kind of physical/intellectual activity, obviously without putting at risk anyone, is much batter than being glued all day to TVs, computers and burgers.

Mutt 04-30-2011 11:22 AM

i think it's pretty cool actually - better than the shitty dancing people were doing when i was in my 20's.

cherrylula 04-30-2011 11:27 AM

you never heard of the cabbage patch? running man? lol.... now it's soldier boy and the hot new thing down here is movin' like bernie. :1orglaugh

Good for her, if she wants to party and can maintain a high gpa more power to her. Work hard, play hard. There is nothing inherently wrong with drugs, many of them are actually medications.

It sounds like your open minded attitude will allow you to remain close, and as you say she knows she can call you in a rough situation.

Back to the shuffling, it seems like the moonwalk 2011 style.

Anthony 04-30-2011 11:33 AM

Shuffling has been out for awhile. Ask her about Jump Style, that's even more nutty.

Anthony 04-30-2011 11:38 AM

The song that has everyone shuffling. Saw them last weekend live, they actually suck live, drunk off their asses.

Some trivia, the shuffle is based off a popular dance when we were in our 20's. The running man.

ArielRebel 04-30-2011 11:53 AM

It had a manga feel to the dance and it looks like they are playing dance revolution or something... it's actually pretty cool :) Maybe not the coolest thing ever but still funky...

...yep I think you might be getting too old :P hihi

cooldude7 04-30-2011 12:00 PM

drugs + loud music = total out of control ,.....i second that.

CaptainHowdy 04-30-2011 12:08 PM

That's some irreflexive shit over there ...

halfpint 04-30-2011 12:18 PM

Hahahahahahahahaha and I thought my dancing was bad that just plain sucks

Agent 488 04-30-2011 12:21 PM

cute chicks ...

TheSenator 04-30-2011 12:25 PM

The Chinese have been doing this for awhile now.

There is a video out there with Asian kids doing it out in public.

TheSenator 04-30-2011 12:27 PM

How do they glide like that...I am trying it in my office and I am just skipping

TheSenator 04-30-2011 12:31 PM

Finally, getting my foot action down for the shuffle....

Paul Markham 04-30-2011 12:31 PM

If you can't be fucked up in your youth, what the fuck were you doing wrong? :1orglaugh

I loved the Mick Jagger quote. "If you remember the 60s, you weren't there." :1orglaugh

That Weekend At Bernie's shit is wack.

Agent 488 04-30-2011 12:50 PM

get the hell of my lawn!!!!!!!!

baddog 04-30-2011 01:34 PM

I am pretty sure my parents thought the dances of my generation were odd, just like their parents probably felt about theirs and your parents felt about yours.

My personal opinion is that I do not have that kind of rhythm and could never do it, but it looks like it is great exercise for their legs and asses, so I am all for it.

captain.g 04-30-2011 02:47 PM

Looks like a bad reaction to some PCP to me. BTW K2 is a fake weed, usually sold as incense, kids are smoking these days and pretty dangerous.

Vjo 04-30-2011 03:45 PM

Pretty cool. Sort of a more elaborate version of moonwalking.

Plus not many guys over 30 can do it which is how it should be.

justinsain 04-30-2011 04:25 PM

Looks a lot better than what they've been doing lately.

In my opinion dancing should exhibit some degree of musicality and the more the better. So many now are just gyrating spastically and it makes no difference what music is playing or playing at all. It's just stupid and another product of people pushing beyond the limit of good sense. That baggy pants style hanging half way down was just plain stupid and happened because everyone thought the baggier the cooler :1orglaugh

Shuffling looks pretty good. Keep your arms moving at a slower pace than your legs much like a tap dancer does and it would be hot.

biskoppen 04-30-2011 04:31 PM

I think it looks pretty damn cool

You should be happy that she's into harmless dancing and not something much worse...

Ayden Rush 04-30-2011 04:37 PM

Shuffling has been around since the early 80's as far as I remember. It's a derivation of the uprock, except on the west coast they called it shuffling.

eroticsexxx 04-30-2011 05:56 PM

That's a modified version of the running man with a little side step.

Nothing new to see there.

The Weekend at Bernie's imitation is interesting though.

Yeah, I remember seeing it at "dance parties" in the mid 1990s, so it's not new... maybe just come back in...

Beats bobbing from side to side, I guess.

cam_girls 04-30-2011 06:16 PM

nice moves! Is there a Wii version?

Vjo 04-30-2011 06:37 PM

you know i can dance

i just moved like bernie to the bathroom and back and must say it is much easier than shuffling

Bill8 04-30-2011 07:25 PM

shuffle is years old - started in europe, I thought.

I like it - it's not as atheletic as jumpen, but takes a lot of practice and skill.

those girls look cute doing it.
