More Riots In Bristol Over Tescos ..30 arrested this time
I thought this would get worse and it has
30 arrested as outsiders blamed for Bristol violence Roof tiles and concrete blocks thrown at police as Tesco protest hijacked by leftwingers, says MP More than 30 people have been arrested after another night and day of violence centred on a new Tesco store in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol. Avon and Somerset police said officers suffered head, neck, back and leg injuries, and claimed more arrests would follow once CCTV footage had been studied. During last night and into the early hours of this morning, protesters armed with rocks and bottles clashed with police in riot gear. Local protesters against the Tesco Express insisted the violence was caused by outsiders. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/ap...tesco-protests |

Good, people in the US should stand up to things as well like this. We always act so PC and let things slide and forget about it.

Can you imagine? People would then have the choice to work there or not, and then other people would have the choice to buy things there or not. That sort of freedom of choice should NEVER by allowed!!! Burn them all down! Good thing that same crowd didn't decide that they don't like you running a porn company, huh? |

I actually live in bristol about a mile away from the tesco store.
As said above I don't see the mentality in creating all this fuss over something that gives people a choice to use or not to use. The street I live on was named the most dangerous street in britain a few years back so it's good to see reports suggest that the majority of trouble makers are outsiders. |
Towns and people here in the US have successfully blocked Walmart from opening their towns.
They just didn't need to resort to chaos and violence. |
How did these people manage to get time off work to go to this protest?

In my Mom's hometown Walmart wanted to build a store and the town said no, so Walmart bought land outside the city limits and put in a superstore.
Now the downtown area of the town is pretty much shuttered and the town gets no tax $ from Walmart since they said fuck you and built the place outside their zone. The only businesses left in the downtown are bars. The florist (which was my grandma's), the hardware store, the sporting goods store, etc are all gone. And the main reason why the town said no to them in the first place is that they wanted this little town to pony up money they didn't have for putting in all the infrastructure stuff for Walmart, the water & power lines, widening the street and putting in lights, all that shit. At least the people there can now get a job selling Chinese bullshit. |
