Psychos @ GFY Needed
Hi
Based in Ireland here and just released a movie teaser trailer and would like some comments. https://youtube.com/watch?v=MAh-DPLKH40 Its based on a true story in Wexford, Ireland so it would be great to get some comments. Its my first outing in the movie world so some real GFY comments might shine a light as to what I am doing. |
Quite good actually :)
Brief enough to be teasing and make it look like it might be interesting rather than overdoing it and putting people off. |

I think the trailer is very good! Personally I think maybe there is a bit too much blue, or something is just a tiny tiny bit off with the contrast or grading done in the initial daylight scenes but that's just personal preference.
Did you use any video copilot plugins? There are some effects in there that remind me of the twitch, sure target, and film magic plug ins. Just curious. Again i think it's very well done. I am not anyone so please don't take the grading comment too seriously, just trying to add some constructive criticism on an already great piece. Regards |
we edited in Premier and done the effects in After Effects. We have a full Theatrical Trailer due on the 13th May which shows the full story. so any directions or comments are all welcome

It looks pretty good, I agree with the blue comments. Is it going to be a feature?
|
thats the idea - its my first outing so its costed 5000 euros so far so i am trying to do the cost benefit ratio at the moment

If this is directed towards the color grading suggestion, it shouldn't take very long at all to add a little more orange in there or a little contrast, aside from the render (I wouldn't think for this clips length that it would take too too long to render). Again, I am not sure of your role in this, whether it was shooting, editing, direction or all of it, so forgive me if I am mentioning something you already know. Best of luck. |
The trailer looked cool to me
|
we thought long and hard and felt a blueish effect would give the viewer the best feeling of psycho thriller feeling - maybe we are wrong

looks like you are inspired by the blair witch project

It was just a friendly suggestion, I wasn't trying to say the blue was bad, I just saw something about the scene with the sign, and wasn't sure if it was the blue or the contrast or what, I was just suggesting something could be tweaked in there to make it pop a little bit more. It was meant just to make you consider it, was in no way trying to say this was bad or this or that.
When you replied I just figured you thought it may be a very time consuming thing to do, and was just offering my view on that. If you go here: http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/ and mouse over the thumbnail on tutorial 43, you can see this guy used the same type of blue tint for that tutorial which is in a similar genre to what your'e doing. He makes a ton of money doing effects and is on top of his game. I haven't made anything of your caliber with after effects or video, was just a friendly suggestion. There is just something with that scene 11 seconds in, but I don't think it's something that justifies any massive changes. |
I'll check it out as soon as I'm done with this integration
|
yes please
|
Since I have a 3 inch psych report I should comment!
Yeh the reality aspect catches you right in! Good trailer, the final shot LOFTUS was a bit weak, too late to change the name? THE LOFT! |
what about some subliminal flashes of deformed stalker faces towards the end?
you've caught the audience, but have you sold them? |
sold them ?
|
Now I want to watch the film, good job!

Yeh you need a hook at the end! The trailer isn't meant to be entertaining, it's meant to be advertising, sell tickets. Let me ask this to everyone who watched the trailer just now. What image do you remember from it? ...... |

looks boring. what's it about? missing irish people?
|
OK I watched it a second time, this time taking note, lights off.
So you've got this girl character running around the countryside taking photos! But... she's not put up on the screen for you to know, first viewing I thought it was a bunch of different girl characters... All you have to do is repeat the running girl scene in the final shot - hang for 5 seconds with LOFTUS written over the running girl - THATS YOUR POSTER! The 1/2 second flash of the girl running at 33s, put that onscreen at 38 seconds instead of just the word LOFTUS. And the blood spurting on the word loftus, that has to be like 10 liters not a squirt from a hypodermic! Dammit a horror movie needs a poster! |
"Angela's Ashes" it's scarier ...
|
Psycho approved.
