Photoshop question

When you open a PS document is there any setting in PS so that the document can't escape the boundaries of the actual Photoshop window? In older versions of PS your documents could move outside the boundaries of the Photoshop app window, that's what I want, too confusing this way.

Can't think of anything other than maximising the image window which then buries some of it behind the palette etc and gets even more annoying.

use 2 monitors and place the tools palettes on the secondary monitor

:thumbsup Nice one... I never used this technique, it would work well. Thx for thought.

I would use the 2 monitor idea too. Just upgrading from my 15" LCD to 23" has made a huge difference in photo editing in PS.

Woot Woot Post Number 600!!!!!

I wouldn't mind trying to help you but Im a little confused on what you are trying to do.

"When you open a PS document is there any setting in PS so that the document can't escape the boundaries of the actual Photoshop window?"

"In older versions of PS your documents could move outside the boundaries of the Photoshop app window, that's what I want, too confusing this way."

It seems like you say you dont want the psd to move out of the main window, but the next sentence states you used to be able to and thats what you want to do.

If you haven't figured out a way to get what you want, and can clarify just a little bit more, I will try to find an answer for ya =D.

Read it again. He's asking if there's a setting and then saying what he wants.

my mistake - in older versions of PS your documents could NOT move outside the boundaries of the PS window, you would take a document/window and push it against the border of Photoshop and it would hide part of the document window as far as you pushed it - the same way as when you have browser windows open on your desktop.

I know there is an app you can get from Adobe, Adobe configurator. It allows you to build custom panels to replace the ones you have with i think any of the cs5 products. I don't know if by using that you can build custom panels to restrict the windows from floating outside of photoshop.

Here is the download link:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/configurator.html

Here's a tute, if it's of any use:
http://www.digital-photography-schoo...e-configurator

You can try asking here:
http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/configurator

Im pretty sure this is not what you wanted but as far as preferences go I think the only panel options available are through edit, preferences, interface. None of the few settings will do what you want though. Sorry I can't be more help.

Best of luck,
Jason
