100TB.com - Good deal, or too good to be true?
Just browsing the threads on this forum, I don't see these guys mentioned.
However, when I search adult on the Webhosting forum, they come up a lot. Apparently they are resellers for Softlayer. Their base plan is $202 per month for 100TB bandwidth, and they allow adult sites. What do you guys think? 100tb.com The consensus is generally positive, and customer service is said to be horrible. There have been some people who's service has been shut down for periods of time with the reason being "possible DoS attack" but they suspect it might be due to too much bandwidth being used... Otherwise, the speed is supposed to be very nice. |
Too good to be true. 100TB = 300mbits sustained, no host could afford that without overselling. They'd have to be buying bandwidth at like 30 or 40 cents per mbit, or less. They still need rack space, server leases (or buying), electricity, support staff, etc.

More talk about them here when they were called 10tb.com
|
Yes it is toogood to be true.If you try to utilize all that bandwidth they will be find some excuse to kill your service.

They are all about the sweet deals. Plenty of people have used them. Rarely complaints.
We worked with them once on a tube deal, and they easily had the worst support we'd come across. It took something like 3-4 weeks of back and forth action before we simply said, fuck that and moved the client. |
google "simpleCDN" :)
|
i used them while it was 10tb, support only took 1-2 mins to get back to me in the few times i contacted them, i was with them a year (i still have virtual with midphase.com) a sister company, ive heard rumors that if you get more than 2 dmca notices they will suspend you.
they use softlayer bandwidth which is nice. they also own vps.net and westhost.net 2 other popular mainstream brands. |
anyone using vps.net ?
what are experiences... |
too good a buddy of mines with a tube got close to the 100tb an got hit with a pretty big overage bill.

I've had 10 servers on their network. Its a superb network and support is great. However, if you operate any single site that might get a single DMCA complaint, run from them as fast as you can. As far as they are concerned, you are guilty without any opportunity to defend yourself. The only course of action to a DMCA complaint is to remove the files in question even if the complaint isn't valid or plain wrong. Despite even having a lawyer contact them about it, they could care less. As a result, I dumped their services. I can't operate a business on their network when they won't even listen to their clients about a DMCA complaint.

Rewiews online are good...

they're fast indeed no questions about that. However, like people above said, I heard they handled the DMCA thingy in a very unprofessional way (it never happened to me, but heard that many times). Also, they have pretty fast support, but it's a question of luck whether you get someone that at least knows how to turn on a computer or a complete retard. Sadly, chances are 75% of times you'll get the complete retard and you gotta insist until you get someone that barely knows his job
