Congratulations Apple, you're training us to hate you

Another new iPhone coming (too) soon.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Apple-...554243925.html

I'm happy with my iPhone4. I upgraded to it from one of the original silverbacks.
But imagine the people who are still on a 3GS contract with their provider, or those who just signed a new contract for an iPhone4. Now version 5 will be delivering in the fall.

iPad 2 is already out, and those who recently put down their money for the first one must be thinking WTF.

I won't be getting an iPad, I won't be getting a Macbook, and my next eventual phone will may or may not be Apple. I'm not being led around by the nose by Steve Jobs.

RyuLion 04-21-2011 06:49 AM

Thank goodness I haven't spent any $$ on iphones..

Phoenix 04-21-2011 06:51 AM

i go through a phone like every 4 years

its getting to be too much ;)

Technology is moving fast sweet pea. Which would explain why Best Buy is now offering their 'buy back' incentive to keep up. Buck your seatbelt.

I'm sure Jobs will be losing sleep over this declaration.

This isn't Apple-centric at all LOL

How many "Droid" phones have launched just in the last year alone?

The windows phone?

Laptop Types? Tablets?

I'm excited for the Iphone5. I got my 3 shortly before the 3GS came out, and skipped the 4 due to the "lefties" reception issue. I am ready for a 5.

I have an Ipad1, and will eventually upgrade to a 2, but I don't see the need to pay the "geek tax" every time to have the latest/greatest.

Like with all tech, it's a matter of picking your battles :p

(My pick went to a new 3DS, which is pretty swank!)

They are jerking people around on purpose to squeeze as much $$ out of them as possible... :2 cents:

A.K.A. "big business". Just like the oil companies for an example.

If you do not like it, do not buy it. Vote with your pocket book.

Vendot 04-21-2011 07:13 AM

Just Chill. So you wont have the most upto date iphone in the world. If Tommy up the street starts boasting about his iphone 5, you can always push him face first into a puddle.

Besides, itll probably be radioactive with all the new bits Japan can finally ship.....

NaughtyRob 04-21-2011 07:36 AM

They come out with a new one every year. It has been every June until this year. No surprise.

Rochard 04-21-2011 07:37 AM

Why do people feel the burning need to have the newest phone? I have the original android phone. Is this new Iphone any better than what you have right now? Can you still make phone calls? Take pictures? Buy music? Hit the Internet? What does this new version do that you MUST HAVE?

I never understood this need to have the "newest".

my issue is keyboard size only

I use an anonymous Tracfone.... no frills whatsoever. And I love it. I won't play the 'gotta have the newest' game.

The chipset of the latest iPhones are impressive, as is the retina display. I was very happy with my upgrade from the 1st gen to iPhone4. I'm not sure how they're going to improve on this one apart from it having a faster processor, and hopefully Facetime capable without wifi.

JFK 04-21-2011 07:51 AM

Well I've never owned a Mac and I don't ever plan on it either.

Hell... for about $349 you can now get an HP laptop that does 99% of everything you'll ever need to do on a computer.

96ukssob 04-21-2011 07:53 AM

if you dont like it, dont buy it :2 cents:

I say this in every one of these threads... each time a new phone comes out, I easily sell my "old" model within an hour of posting in on craigslist for more than what it cost me for a new one.

Last time I sold my iPhone 3GS for $400 and paid $300 for my iPhone 4. Yes I had to sign a contract but I get a new phone each year (business plan... AT&T <3's me). If I wanted to cancel my contract, I could sell my iPhone 4 right now for $550 easy and recoup my initial $300 cost plus the $250 to cancel the contract.

As I see it, probably the best investment ever and I thank Apple for rolling out new phones each year :thumbsup

potter 04-21-2011 08:00 AM

I typically always get the new one, but it's usually free so I don't see what the big deal is?

When I bought my 3G, it cost me $199. When the iPhone4 came out, it was also at a price of $199. I bought it, put my 3G up for sale on ebay and a week later it finished (sold) for $181.

... So my iPhone4 cost me a grand total of $18.

Well that's just dumb, when it comes to phones mimimum product cycle SHOULD be every year, in my book they are too slow with their refreshes.

What would you want them to do , not refresh their product line for 5 years and get years behind technology and other competitors? Buy a phone when you need it, and when it's outlived it's usefulness, breaks or a new model comes out with a feature you have to have buy it.

I used my iphone 3g for like 4 years and I just upgraded to iphone 4, I usually wait 2 refreshes before upgrading. If you have to have the newest phone each time one comes out just to have it, that is just retarded and you are playing into their hand.

NEWSFLASH!

Apple make a new iphone EVERY YEAR and have done FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS!

The solution is to BUY your handset out-right, and resell it every year. I've done this for the last three years.

It ASTOUNDS me how people moan that a company is making its shit better.

/me shakes his head

Dude...
If you buy any Apple product, you know it will be updated every single year.
So, why all the whining?

I'm not whining, just stating how the continuous upgrades must piss off those who are signing into agreements with their providers.

Personally, I have never been on contract to a provider. I always buy my phones outright, in fact FIDO comp'd my iPhone4 last July for nothing.

However, the majority of users go on contract. That's where they make the bulk of their money.

I'm perfectly happy and will upgrade as I see fit.
Not sure what the drama is about

Black All Through 04-21-2011 11:16 AM

jimmycooper 04-21-2011 11:35 AM

Some people just don't like big companies.

tiger 04-21-2011 12:42 PM

Don't buy apple products if you aren't willing to fork out more money for the latest upgrades most people know that.

If you want a device that doesn't nickel and dime you for every little tech advance get a droid.

Nothing wrong with the iphone or apple for that matter, just be ready to pay the apple premium as you do with all apple products.

Scott McD 04-21-2011 12:59 PM

Don't like it, don't buy it!

lexeigh 04-21-2011 01:02 PM

Apple is currently King and pure genius. If you don't agree they don't care. They have enough that bow down already. Oh to be the King.

Loki 04-21-2011 03:37 PM

I have the iPhone 3GS, the ONLY thing that appeals to me about the 4 is the front and back cameras and the "Face Time" app, but I don't feel "I gotta have it"

Same will go for the 5 when it hits, when I'm up for a "free (or cheap) upgrade I'll move up to whatever, but I'm really in no big ass rush.

I still hate the fact that in order to dev for their App store I MUST have a mac (or a hackintosh) :(

Uhh, I'm pretty sure that was exactly his point in the original post. If they keep pulling shit he's thinking about putting his money elsewhere.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 04-21-2011 05:57 PM

I have had the same shit flip phone for like 5 years now. It makes calls perfectly fine. Mission accomplished. It's your own damn fault if you're rushing out to buy something you don't really need just to be "caught up" with the rest of the herd. I still don't see the necessity for me to run out and buy an expensive smartphone to do computer stuff when I already have a desktop, a laptop, a netbook, bllablabla. But I guess some people just gotta have the internet strapped to their ass 24/7.

You sound like its mandatory to buy every new gadget apple releases :1orglaugh EVERY phone company release phones so fast, no one says you must buy every one of them.

PS: hate to advocate because I am apple hater, but must be objective a little bit
