Many adult webmasters have moved on to blackhat channels and "easier" money. Others are in that other area of infinity billing--mainstream recurring product niches. Even others dropped out entirely.

Every 5 years it seems the industry witnesses an extinction wave. The good news is that even a Permian scale extinction lays the groundwork for a flourishing ecosystem once the dust settles--just don't be part of the 80 to 90% that didn't make it.

Don't get the point of this thread. They law has passed. A private company will make a lot of money from people that get confused easily.

I believe they are boiling frogs. If the powers that be have their way, this is not going to end well for the industry.

It's also one hell of a coincidence that they are making an effort to keep the Obscenity Task Force that Bush created, and making that push shortly after .XXX was official.

They are going to baby step us right into a cluster fuck.

It's already starting bad. Sex.com was bought for 14 million. Sex.xxx jacked. Porn.com should have dibs on Porn.xxx... but that got jacked too.

Best thing is to ignore it and hope .sex, .porn, .gay etc get approved soon so the potential value of .xxx domains diminishes even faster...

In short - you're only buying a domain that will be blocked in most countries - they are going to be bought up likely and used mostly as tubes - blogs etc.

I'm waiting for the .xxxjay extension before I purchase.

I'm with Jay - although I've been in the business over 10 years I havent formed an opinion one way or another. As it has now passed I think people should look at it as an opportunity.

With over 300,000 .xxx domains already pre-registered (do the math), they are going to make a killing with or without us. This is a domain junkie's wet dream... more real estate.

And of course you have companies who will buy them simply to protect their brand, and I really can't blame them as it would be cheaper to buy a domain than to fight for it in court later.

This will be a huge win for them even if it doesn't "take off."

.xxx domains are chock full of malware, spyware and viruses!

Avoid clicking on them at all costs!

By visiting a .xxx site you will be added to a government database, and tracked.
