How Little Sleep Can You Get Away With?

Personally 5.5 hours here but if I get less than that I'm a bit cranky.

I sleep 12 hours every night, and I love it.

Spunky 04-18-2011 05:52 PM

I'm lucky if I get 4 at the most

TeenCat 04-18-2011 05:53 PM

NaughtyRob 04-18-2011 05:55 PM

I need at least 6, no more than 8 or I get groggy all day.

MetaMan 04-18-2011 05:57 PM

JFK 04-18-2011 06:01 PM

fatfoo 04-18-2011 06:11 PM

"pressing a key as soon as they saw something on screen" - this is sure a popular way to test quick reflexes. Another way to test quick reflexes is through sports. People should sleep about 8 hours a day.

woj 04-18-2011 06:12 PM

I aim for 8 hours or so... :thumbsup

4 hours and one 45 min nap a day.

Works fine for me and has for years.

ottopottomouse 04-18-2011 08:08 PM

4 or 5 hours.

SpotOnTechSupport 04-18-2011 08:57 PM

When working with an overseas client, I get 8 during the day. If I am on normal sleeping hours, about 10 a night.

baddog 04-18-2011 09:04 PM

A lot less than I would like to get, luckily.

J. Falcon 04-18-2011 09:08 PM

As much as possible.

I wish you would go to sleep and stay that way.

LAJ 04-18-2011 09:15 PM

I can get away with 6 but I prefer 8 or 9

candyflip 04-18-2011 09:17 PM

I typically go to bed around 2 am and get up shortly after 6 am. Most of the day is spent catering to three little ones under 3 years old. I get all my work done at night.

I consider myself an insomniac. I often feel like I'm missing out on something by going to sleep and that doesn't make sleeping easy, and I've never been one to use prescribed sleeping aids.

On Sundays, I get to sleep in and usually log a good nine hours. Once a week, usually around Wednesday...I take a nice afternoon nap.

Chosen 04-18-2011 09:17 PM

I need to sleep about 8 hours to feel myself well, it depends on different factors though...

Pornopat 04-18-2011 11:24 PM

7 hours is best for me. I prefer less then 7 above more then 7.

Paul Markham 04-19-2011 12:08 AM

10-12 hours at night and usually a few cat naps during the day.

Had to get up early this morning as we have a Fed Ex collection coming for a HD of content. :Oh crap

Not Fed Ex buying it. :1orglaugh

MaDalton 04-19-2011 01:48 AM

i can live with 5-6 hours for a couple of days, but i try to avoid that. one perk of being self employed is having no fix schedules

chief_wolfinjo 04-19-2011 02:03 AM

8 hours/ day :D

Pseudonymous 04-19-2011 02:04 AM

I can go 2 days without being tired. I do it on a regular basis. During my week in Arizona for the Phoenix Forum. I slept 2-3 hours a night for 6 straight nights.

For long term, I used to sleep 5 hours and do 15-16 hour days (ft post secondary+ft work) for about a year. Work is easy, being able to take in knowledge and read giant text books wasn't quite as easy. Hence why I only balanced the two for a year.

Ive never been big on sleep, I feel there is a thousand better things I can be doing so I go as long as I can without it. I also workout and eat healthy, try to balance it out a bit because I know my body does need the sleep, even if I dont get tired. But I just freakin' hate sleeping. So now, I go about 20 hours, sleep for 8, 20 hours, sleep for 8, so my wake up time and sleep time is always different. i end up being backwards and being up all night and sleeping all night for a bit

Emil 04-19-2011 02:08 AM

10-12 hours/day.

I would say 5, but you should be getting 8-10 to be happy. lol Basically you should need coffee or caffeine to get through the day.

are'nt you on holidays ?:winkwink:

theking 04-19-2011 02:15 AM

Because of the pain I suffer with 24/7 I can only sleep about 2 hours at a time and then I am up for about 8 hours...then will get another couple of hours of sleep. That is my normal routine.

Kiopa_Matt 04-19-2011 02:37 AM

Probably 5 - 6 hours at night, with a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. Once every week or two I'll crash for about 12 hours, which is always revitalizing. :)

whoa I thought I slept a lot all the time
i sleep between 8-10hrs
I can function on 5-7hrs okay but I am a bitch to be around :321GFY

Problem is, my dreams are very intense almost every night. It's like I go somewhere, and do all these things and if I sleep less than 8hrs I wake up exhausted like I haven't slept the whole night.

During lambing season, I can usually sneak into the field, and grab a few newborns before the farmer notices... But hes on to me now, so I wont be able to keep getting away with them for much longer

Always good to keep in mind that while coffee can keep us awake, it is not good for concentration, despite what many think, all the research shows we cannot concentrate as well after a coffee

wendyh 04-19-2011 04:05 AM

I can get by on just a couple hours sleep.
Most times i work 48 hours back to back though (depending on how much work i take on)
Then i need at least eight hours to be fully functional again.

prezzz 04-19-2011 04:09 AM

7 hours is perfect for me. Anything more and I tend to get sleepy during the day...

Farang 04-19-2011 04:33 AM

Farang doesn't sleep :)

TheDoc 04-19-2011 04:34 AM

6 normally... 8 if I'm really tired anything over that and I'm sick.

Paul&John 04-19-2011 04:36 AM

8-9hours per day :)

Chris 04-19-2011 04:42 AM

bed around midnightish and up at 6 to get the kid off to school

Nicky 04-19-2011 04:43 AM

Usually around 8 hours, not tonight though.

calvinawe 04-19-2011 05:31 AM

generally 7 hours.

PR_Glen 04-19-2011 06:26 AM

I've had strong bouts of insomnia for the past 4 or 5 years now but I've gotten control over it for the most part so haven't started any fight clubs up yet ;)

I'll go 4 days without more than 2 hours sleep on a bad streak.. and then crash for like 12-13 hours after that so it always catches up with me eventually. Lately it's only been 2 or 3 day streaks so that's not quite as bad. If i feel that my concentration is going eg. can't read and retain anymore I'll will myself to sleep because I know it is time to recharge.

Am I asleep? Have I slept?
