I am a recent convert, had my left ear pierced on my birthday. Been wanting to do it for years, but hate needles and never worked up the courage:1orglaugh

About 8 yrs ago I took out the earring I had in there with the intention of replacing it, but never did get around to it. The holes long closed up by now

I used to have 0 gauge tunnels in both ears but that was years ago when I was a little insane. I also had several piercings... you know....down there.

last time i got my ear pierced i ended up requiring emergency surgery to remove a chunk of infected ear. spent 10 days in the hospital getting IV antibiotics. crazy.

The wearing of a gold earring by sailors goes back for thousands of years. In ancient time, sailors wore a gold earring in case their ship sank, or they were swept overboard. After they drown, their body would hopefully wash ashore somewhere. Wherever that was, the sailor hoped that the gold earring was of enough value to those that found his body to give it a decent burial. Anything else upon his person would of been destroyed by salt water, but not metal attached to his body.
