Another Dog!

We got another puppy, so I had to share some pics. He is a Beauceron and so well behaved it's amazing!

He is only 3 months old so far, but now has the biggest paws in the pack! (I don't have little hands either!)

He is a Beauceron.. its a French herding/guardian dog. Supposedly, they are one of the breeds that Dobermann's were made from. He should be around 100 pounds.

Our friends in Phoenix got one to try to help with their coyote problem... so we took the brother.

Lol at you two. Doberman < 100 years old as a breed. Rottweiler > 2000 years old as a breed.

Chosen 04-14-2011 02:53 PM

Cuties :thumbsup

thickcash_amo 04-14-2011 03:13 PM

WarChild 04-14-2011 03:19 PM

That dog will be big, not huge. Probably the 90-100 pound range I'd guess. Cool looking dog enjoy.

?? Yes the Doberman is a newer breed, and lhe ooks like the Beauceron because he is part Beauveron... think it was a legitimate question. No Rottie involved tho.

Spunky 04-14-2011 06:39 PM

Cute looking doggy

My point was the coloring that he is most probably identifying as "looking like doberman" is, I think in the Beauceron, and for sure in the Doberman, from the much older ancestor; A German herding/guard dog, the Rottweiler.

John-ACWM 04-15-2011 09:13 AM

Beautiful, take good care of him!

fatfoo 04-15-2011 09:28 AM

This black and brown Beauceron looks great in bright green grass. Congratulations.

When I lived up in Topanga Canyon there were coyotes that could bring down big dogs (rottweiler for example). They would lure the dog out with a bitch coyote in heat and bring it down as a pack.

Them thar coyotes is tricky mofos - and they didn't even have to order anything from ACME to pull that stuff off. Tell your friends to still be wary. A big dog might scare off one or two but if they are out as a pack then all bets are off.

Yup this is exactly right. When you see a Coyote, there's always more than one you just don't see the rest. A single Coyote won't fair well against a large dog but as a pack they're ruthless.

We get them out here. They run a couple from the pack around the neighborhood stirring up the neighborhood dogs (and crapping all over my yard) then when they get a taker, the pack takes over. I still have to shake my head at people that have outdoor cats around here and then frantically canvas the neighborhood when the cat goes missing.

WarChild 04-15-2011 10:58 AM

I actually know a guy who has a pack of Dogos on his farm that he uses specifically for Coyotes. Last I heard he had a half dozen of them. Cool dogs from Argentina that are bread specifically to interact in a pack and used to hunt wild boar and mountain lions. Look like Pittbulls on steroids.
