Google rolls out Panda Globally

Quote:

Today we?ve rolled out this improvement globally to all English-language Google users, and we?ve also incorporated new user feedback signals to help people find better search results. In some high-confidence situations, we are beginning to incorporate data about the sites that users block into our algorithms. In addition, this change also goes deeper into the ?long tail? of low-quality websites to return higher-quality results where the algorithm might not have been able to make an assessment before. The impact of these new signals is smaller in scope than the original change: about 2% of U.S. queries are affected by a reasonable amount, compared with almost 12% of U.S. queries for the original change.

this past week google has shook around so much and some major changes took place..this morning tho some things seemed to go back to "normal" but still took some very large hits

fatfoo 04-11-2011 12:30 PM

Improvements are designed to help people find more high-quality sites in search. This is good. Although, an honest human assessment of sites should be better than a robot.

Go panda go!

While we aren’t making any manual exceptions = if you got owned, fuck off!

TeenCat 04-11-2011 12:41 PM

panda will kill tubes or what?

alias 04-11-2011 12:45 PM

Tubes are here to stay, search: porn.

alias 04-11-2011 12:48 PM

Speaking of porn search, earlier porn.com was on page 1 now page 4 and they have inbound links etc.

My network of blogs got massive hit by this update. Lost lot's of positions, tubes winning everywhere

Agent 488 04-11-2011 07:38 PM

biggest news is that user feedback and site flagging is being used in results now.

FlexxAeon 04-11-2011 08:00 PM

looks like my netwoork took another dip but no huge hit (yet...)

after the US roll out i waited a few weeks to see if G was just playing with us. then i cried a little. then i spend the better part of 2 weeks making some massive changes to my main sites to try and fight back.

looking OK so far but time will tell

If you think this is rough, wait until bounce rate plays an even bigger role

FlexxAeon 04-11-2011 10:34 PM

lol @ some of these results

looking at a term i just got knocked down from and some of the top spots are so obviously spam

Sites that have a high level of duplicate content got knocked down hard:

Here's just one example

Other factors discussed at SEO blogs/forums:

bounce rate
visit times

The Dawg 04-11-2011 11:21 PM

Honestly, do you think surfers will "complain" about Panda? It seems G isnt listening to content producers, so this change may be permanent.

Jack Sparrow 04-12-2011 12:31 AM

Google is supporting illegal tubes more then ever.
Thanks.. not..

Unless you're one of the sites that suffers colateral damage due to false positives... then you'd be a sad panda.
