5 shoppers killed in Dutch mall shooting
 

-- Dutch officials say a gunman opened fire at a mall on Saturday, killing five people and wounding nine others before shooting himself in the head, a journalist with CNN affiliate SBS reported.

Bas Eenhoom, mayor of Alphen aan de Rijn, told reporters that the shooter, whose identity is unknown, fired an automatic rifle and killed himself before police arrived on the scene.

The mall was evacuated. Four of the injured are in critical condition, Eenhoom said.

Sadly it seems they need to outlaw guns to avoid a repeat occurrence.

as we both know, that will accomplish nothing, but take the guns away from law abiding citizens. :2 cents: Sad to hear, the Netherlands is the last place I would of expected to hear something like this from:(

Sad news indeed ...

One of the eyewitnesses said he would have expected something like that in the USA but not in the Netherlands. Lots of people are in shock over here.

I don't know, I seem to recall that whenever it happens here it is due to a lack of gun control according to the GFY experts.

As for banning guns ... wouldn't make a difference. There have been incidents where a single person killed many people using nothing more than a knife.

And then there of course are explosives - a tried and true method that dates back ages. Examples...

Availability of guns, knives, explosives, etc doesn't get to the root of the problem, which is it ultimately takes people to create violence.
