So my dogs killed another dog

Ugh, my two Rotties were playing with a Multipoo .. and by playing I mean just that, playing with it. Somehow, and nobody is sure exactly how, the little multipoo just stopped moving. They broke his neck. I feel terrible for the lady that owns the dog and covered the vet bill, cremation and offered that if she was ready anytime in the future for another dog, I would gladly take care of any of the financial costs.

Still sucks ass because it just reinforces the "Killer Rottweiler" stereo type. Not a single mark on the little multipoo, no bites, it wasn't shaken or picked up or anything like that. :(

SomeCreep 04-08-2011 09:17 PM

Rottweilers are the nicest dogs. Very good with children too.

During their playtime it could have been stepped on or it may have gotten stuck in a position where it broke its own neck while trying to wriggle free.

You should have shot the dog .... the pooch ... just for fun ...

shade001 04-09-2011 01:01 AM

I don't know what the fuck a multipoop is but it obviously shouldn't have playing with a real dog. The world is better off.

spazlabz 04-09-2011 06:27 AM

Oh man I am sorry for the lady who lost the dog and for you, the guilty feeling you must have has to be terrible. I know exactly what you are talking about with the stereotyping of breeds. I have three
a white boxer
a chocolate lab
a full blooded pit bull

wanna guess which is the biggest 'pussy' of the three? Yup, the pit. He is overly friendly to people AND OTHER DOGS whereas the lab has bitten people and gone after other dogs

we modified this behavior though so he is safe now

We had to get rid of our Rot 2 months ago, daughter has a baby and I simply don't trust the dog around her. Plus she killed a cat by pushing it in the pool and drowning it. Replaced her with a Lab.

JFK 04-09-2011 08:56 AM

similar thing happend to me several years ago. One of our dogs, we had two at the time, started playing innocently with a little Bichon, got carried away and shook the shit out of it. before anyone could stop it. You feel bad, but wtf can you do ?:disgust

If you ever work or hang out in a public place where people walk their
dogs and dog fights happen then you will see what I saw.

It is always the same------- Pit bulls and Rottweilers attacking other dogs and people.

Seen it for 10 years. It never changes.

The pit bull by far is the absolute worst. The rottweilers are second but way way
behind the pit bull. Then comes German shepherds, but way way behind Rotts.

Either there is a problem with the dogs or there is a problem with the type of
people who own these dogs.

I thinks the problem is both;
because everybody can buy a leash and/or muzzle.

Phoenix 04-09-2011 09:43 AM

don't ever let your dogs play with any kids

multipoo isn't really a dog, but still..don't take the risk

munki 04-09-2011 10:26 AM

The range of disinformation in this thread is alarming. Never blame the breed. Ever. If a dog is poorly trained and conditioned shit can happen. If a properly trained dog encounters another dog that is poorly trained or conditioned... shit can happen. End of story.

I have raised Chow Chow's my entire life. Not as popular a breed as pits, but they def. have the same aggressive "legacy". Years upon years of training the highly spirited and ancient breed has taught me, as much, if not more than I have bestowed upon my pups. None of them, including my current rescue would hurt a fly without my explicit command. Even if being attacked in my presence. They don't turn it up until I tell them it's necessary.

Furious_Male 04-09-2011 10:37 AM

Sorry to hear this. As an owner of two rotts myself I can only imagine how you feel. It sounds like they just got to rough and caught the multipoo in the back or neck. My GF has a lhaso that my boys like to play with. I notice they like to push down on her with their heads when playing. Shes pretty sturdy so I haven't had any issues yet but damn I am going to watch a lot closer now.

Someone already mentioned it, but this where that whole "the type of people who have pitbulls and rottweilers" comes into play. I'm not trying to stereotype all pitbull or rottie owners, but in general there are a lot of irresponsible, or outright bad owners of these breeds, who want them just because they want a badass dog. They ARE a badass breed of dog. When this sort of person owns one, guess what they turn into? Badass dogs who don't fuck around, or are outright dangerous altogether. Just about every Rottie I've ever known personally has been a gigantic fucking suck of a dog, but they all had good responsible owners. I've "seen" a ton of rottweilers chained up in backyard s in my day that looked and acted like they'd rip your fucking face off if you got too close though. Wrong people to be owning this type of dog. Keeping one of these mutts and keeping them well bahaved is probably up there with raising a child. You gotta be with them all the time.

Pitbulls are similar, they are super high energy dogs, and need constant fucking attention. If you can't give the dog the attention it needs, it will turn into a troublesome pest when neglected. Not quite the same friendly slobbering dog that a rottie can be, but still good dogs if properly cared for. Have a budget for dog toys, because they will tear a new one to shreds every couple days.

By far the most haywire insane breed of dog I've ever seen are Blue Heelers. Had a couple on the farm growing up, and every one I have ever come into contact with has that batshit crazy side just waiting to explode at any moment. It just can't be helped. It's in the breed, they got a little bit of coyote hiding in there still. They just don't see to have the strength to do the damage that a pitbull or rottweiler can though, and they don't seem to have the public reputation for being the badasses they are. I guess it is partially because they don't look like badass dogs, just like ragged little mutts. Keeps them out of the hands of people looking for that "badass" dog I guess. They seem to be a niche dog, lol, and the people who go out of their way looking for a heeler get him to do work, and understand what it takes to keep one.

Well, it's about exactly what I pictured. That little thing shouldn't have been playing with a Rottweiler, much less two of them. It looks more like something they would catch and eat than another dog to them.........personally I can't stand small, yippy dogs anyway.

Smiley 04-09-2011 10:55 AM

that sucks man...im sure it was simply an accident..big dogs vs little dog and it just happened

but i do agree that many owners (not saying you) really dont train properly...my brother had a Rot and that dog was the biggest asshole in the world, next to my ass of a brother, HE was more of the problem than the dog, he was a horrible dog owner and the dog showed it....sadly the dog was always chained up and highly aggressive to anyone that came near, even if the dog knew you, and wouldnt you know it, one day the dog got loose and attacked a neighbors dog and killed it, brother had to put his dog down and to this day he says that his dog was the nicest dog in the world...he never saw that he was the problem in not training, he just wanted a bad ass dog and simply thought bad ass dog would just know how to be nice and obedient...ignorance is bliss

training is key to any dog

For the record I've had Dobermans, pit bulls, Rottweilers and none of them were as aggressive as the mutt I have now. They were all good dogs unless you came on our property uninvited. The mutt I have now I have to keep on a serious chain when he is outside or he would eat your ass for walking down the street.

I'd say most of you dog experts would be better off with a toy poodle. Then your lack of knowledge about animals could never result in anything but a nipped toe and neighbors that hate you b/c the dog never shuts the fuck up.

Sounds like your typical Rottweiler owner right there, and that's the problem. The vast majority of people who get a Rottweiler WANT it to be a badass. Therefore you wind up with a large percentage of them being badass shithead dogs.

You keep your dog chained when he's in the yard? How about getting another job so you can afford a fucking fence. :2 cents:

My pups and cats quite frequently play together... I'd say the perspective is pretty dead on because well trained dogs wouldn't have issues sharing their domain, water, or relaxation play time with a cat. I previously trained a 3/4 wolf, 1/4 malmute who would reguarly play with our ferret, never a single issue.

Fortunately, you're just a blustering idiot. There's nothign to sue for. Dogs are considered property. You can only sue for real world costs. I already paid the costs and offered to replace the dog. There's no law suit.

Also, fuck you.

They interact. The cat bats at the dogs noses, the dogs chase it around sometimes. Anyway like I said, you're basically retarded so I'm not going to argue with you.

ahoy 04-09-2011 12:41 PM

A rottweiler killed another dog? Oh what a shocker.

Personally, if I was that lady, both of your dogs would be dead. Either by my hands, or I would see they get put down before it happens again.

spazlabz 04-09-2011 12:51 PM

my pit has been raised with two other breeds of dogs and like I said, he is overly friendly with other dogs no matter what the breed. We had a loose chow in our neighborhood for about 2 weeks, animal control wouldnt come out to get it unless someone caught it for them (small town BS) and everyone was afraid of the dog. He hung out in our yard and when we took the dogs out for a walk the boxer wouldnt go near it, the pit tried to play with it, getting in the play position and wagging his crocked ass tail like crazy and the lab wanted to kill that chow... I mean really was out for blood

the one thing that I think is important is our dogs are very well socialized being kept inside. We rarely chain them outside, only on really nice days and they cannot wait to get back inside to the AC LOL

Gator County Cane Corso or its also known as an Italian Mastiff. My dog Brutus weighs 145lbs and when he barks it sounds like a roar. Very scary dog and very expensive. Had him flown in from Florida.

I did not pay because he is a bad ass, I payed because they are one of the best tempered dogs. And are very well known for being great with kids and not killers. My 3 year old daughter rides him like a horse and he pays well with other dogs. I do worry about him stepping on little dogs and snapping there necks. Brutus has no Idea that he looks like a monster or that when he steps on toes, it hurts. He is a sweet gentle giant that wont bite people costing me everything i worked so hard for.

People see him in the yard and want nothing to do with coming onto my property.

Wanted a scary dog that would not be a liability. Researched it hard and long. Then Dez came to me with this breed. I was like what the fuck is this!!! Looked into it and got one.

His name is Brutus, I wanted to name him Fluffy, but they would not have given me the dog with that name.:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

I just spit up my coffee on that one.

As long as it was playing and no blood or biting by the Rotts, there is zero issue here. Accidents happen and with Warchilds facts, thats what this is, an accident.

People, keep in mind if Warchilds dogs were not vicious and all can say that, that was the case, nothing will happen.

If there was blood everywhere and the little dog was torn into two, and people can attest to his dogs viciousness, then both of Warchilds dogs would get put down. But that is obviously not the case.

Warchild, I think you handled the situation better that 100% of the people in the exact same situation. Im also sorry that that has happened to you, your dogs and the lady's dog. Very lame situation.

Good luck and keep us posted:thumbsup

Actually, that's not quite true here in Canada. It's a by-law issue so it varies from city to city. In the city I live in in, they could have picked the dog up, torn it apart and ate its remains and they would still only be labeled dangerous dogs, not destroyed.

Animals are only considered property. It's only if your dog hurts a person that things escalate and dogs are destroyed and or people are charged with criminal negilence.

NewNick 04-09-2011 01:32 PM

What you guys all really need is an English Bull Terrier.

A breed of dog so comfortable with his own stature that he never feels the need to be agressive.

The old saying, walk quietly, carry a big stick.

Hi.

You quoted me, so I think it's safe to assume you directed your comments at me. But, I posted what a maltipoo was and a picture of one in response to someone who didn't know the hybrid breed. I am not the original poster. My dogs did not kill any other dogs. So if you're stating that I am a fucking moron, perhaps you should read and understand who is saying what and to whom...otherwise, well...
