Gas Prices a Problem? Nope. Obama Buy a better car!

When asked at a public meeting yesterday about $4-a-gallon gasoline, President Barack Obama joked that people might want to trade in their gas guzzlers for more fuel efficient cars

IllTestYourGirls 04-08-2011 12:39 PM

For the big corporations by the corporations. Obama, paid and bought for big oil and big auto.

L-Pink 04-08-2011 12:43 PM

A real president for the people.

PornoMonster 04-08-2011 12:44 PM

Look past the fox news lady, and listen to Obama, I can't believe he is laughing about this.

Prices here in the UK are just crippling now. The goverment took 1p off and expected everyone to celebrate. Amazing since about 20p has been added in recent months...

CDSmith 04-10-2011 04:12 AM

He does have a point though.

God forbid some people give up their 19 mpg gas hogs.

Mine only gets 12mpg but fuckyouverymuch I'm keeping it.

John-ACWM 04-10-2011 04:44 AM

Just another bad joke.

Oracle Porn 04-10-2011 05:03 AM

most people around the world are paying way over $4/gallon... those countries figured out you can get by with 0.9l-1.2l engines and not have a problem

DWB 04-10-2011 05:06 AM

Yes We Can 2012 jump off!!!

Obama is back for the re-up.

Kiopa_Matt 04-10-2011 05:19 AM

Probably just him stating the obvious, and it came off a little harsh. What? You guys expect gas to drop to $2/gallon again, or something? Not going to happen, so deal with it, and make your future choices accordingly.

I have no problem with that.

But I do believe it also means that in keeping said gas guzzler you've abrogated your right to bitch about high gas prices. :2 cents:

And the people who have 30+ mpg cars that still can not afford it? Or the truckers who deliver food? Or the farmer who grows food?

woj 04-10-2011 07:42 AM

What exactly would you want him to do? Call up his buddies in the middle east and ask them to lower prices? Or make up some bullshit that they are working on lowering prices? :error

IllTestYourGirls 04-10-2011 08:36 AM

Stop printing and borrowing money

PornoMonster 04-10-2011 09:08 AM

Honestly what to do is the question.

But to give that type of answer to someone that has 10 kids, is not professional.

One thing, he also talked about in the entire speech, is the white housewent to all green vehicles, so should everyone else.

Umm, sure give us the gov credit card, oh wait, that is what both sides do and why we are in this mess.

Think if only a few private companies controlled the USA's water supply.

yea, I agree... I don't follow the news to closely, but isn't the ban on offshore drilling that Obama imposed last year still in place?

even if that happened, it would probably be 7-10 years before it would be fully implemented.

If Obama played with the price of oil, which is private enterprise, then wouldn't
that be big government and socialism?

Prob so, but what about refineries?

They charged Microsoft ...

You can stop driving and survive; but you can't stop drinking water.

So comparing the two is nonsense.

Bill8 04-10-2011 01:03 PM

I despise obama, but what do you figure he should have said instead?

we will need to replace our entire fleet of vehicles over the next 30 years with something radically different, because the oil is going, and it's not coming back.

it's not a problem that offers any easy solution.

our politicians are paralyzed with fear in the face of it, and none of them are suggesting anything that makes sense, or will protect the people from the decades of pain we are facing.

ultimately you can't debate people who can't do simple math.

let them drill with their own money, and mouth their nonsense.

Ride a bike fat ass.

:helpme

Try getting your proud ass on a moped like the rest of the world.

Maybe there is a hidden message in this about how they whipped our asses :

camperjohn64 04-10-2011 01:27 PM

My motorcycle only gets 37mpg and I ride it every day, even when it's 48degrees outside. Yet still, am I expected to trade it in for a motorcycle that gets 48mpg? I mean how much leaner can I get?

PornoMonster 04-10-2011 01:53 PM

Several states in the USA get Coverd by Several inches of snow, I have yet seen one ride in it, oh and what about familes???

that makes no sense man. nobody is talking about motorcycles.

if you are on a bike you aren't part of the problem, for now.

in a decade or two lighter bikes will be more the norm, and bikes that only get 37 will be the bike quivalent of the ford f250.

Maybe I misspoke: Obama was referring to "if you don't like gas prices, change the car you drive". I was simply extending this to motorcycles.

Exactly I have a Honda Hybrid, and I am still not happy with gas prices, guess it is my right.

I blame BOTH sides, don't get me wrong.

well, extending the point you may be making, what do you figure should be said instead of "change the fleet to more efficient models"?

Like I asked before, what should that fraud obama said, instead of "buy more efficient vehicles"?

Barry-xlovecam 04-10-2011 08:59 PM

Yes, in the US there has been just amazing progress in fuel economy </sarcasm>
