Question For Site Owners - Is SMS Phone Billing Working 4U??
Hey All,
Just a few questions to help me out. What countries are giving you new biz now that you added SMS/Phone Billing? Have you found SMS/Phone billing to help your biz or become a problem? Was it worth your time to add SMS/Phone billing to your program? What kind of growth have you experienced since adding SMS/Phone Billing to your program. Thanks in advance everyone :thumbsup |
Yes, sms payment model is quite popular in some European countries, it might be hard to believe it but many people there still don't use credit/debit cards however, almost everyone uses mobile phones... That's why it might be worthy a try.

I would think germany and japan and maybe Sweden would be great for mobile billing if you had a non english tour.

Yes, many Europeans feel more secure using mobile than their credit cards.
Also, direct debit is to be considered as a strong payment alternative. |
Easy extra money.
Gxbill will handle everything for you! |
Great querstions LeRoy! Curious to see what answers are given. :
For what it's worth, I have herd that there are differant mobile payment options for each European country, so what works in Denmark doesn't necassarily work in Norway. Could be wrong about that but that's what I think I heard recently. Of course, unless there's a downside in cost, time or technical skill I'd say it's free money, yes? |
It's worth it if you have traffic coming from countries that you cannot currently convert with cards. Majority of the world's adults have cell phones but only 15% of the world have access to credit cards. Don't disregard phone billing either, some countries offer better pay for per minute rates than SMS, and you can still grant access with a wallet system by charging minutes to get tokens. Plus, phone billing is a great way to reach your Asian traffic.
SMS is hard to charge back from the user's end. If you go with the right phone/sms provider, you don't have to worry about chargebacks in any way. Just keep in mind that it's micro billing and micro access, so give it at least 3 months to ramp up to big dollars in those countries. |
I don't think its viable for camsites leroy.
Membership sites where you have already paid for the content yes, but cam sites where you have to pay out to performers also, no. :2 cents: |
We have a feeling it's "stealing" creditcard signups.
Seems some people actually prefer paying $6-7 with their phone, rather then $1.95 with their creditcard. Even tried giving access only for an hour with SMS, and 3 days with creditcard. But still it seems SMS is preferred for some countries, and the value of an SMS signup can never become as high as a creditcard signup. |
