He needs to be sandwiched between Art Bell and Michael Savage, maybe they can go in on an old missile silo together and equip it for The Apocalypse.

Is Art Bell still alive? When I used to listen to him I never got the impression that he believed anything most of his guests said, but he gave them the time to spout their craziness.

I used to like art bell i think he is dead tho, he quit because he was sick back in the 90's i think. Too much ufo shit tho :D

A long time ago I used to work a graveyard shift and we would all listen to Art Bell. He had some crackpots and nutcases, but he also had some great, very interesting guests and broadcasts.

Anyway, Art is not dead. In 2006 his wife of 15 years died suddenly and unexpectedly. He took some time off then came back to the show. A year or so later he met an Asian girl who was much younger than him and just out of college. He met her online and eventually moved to the Philippines and married her. He lived there for a few years until she was able to get the right documents then he moved with her back to the US, had a baby with her and about a year or so later he retired from broadcasting. I guess he still does guest spots on the show from time to time though.

So sad to see this nutbag go... I will miss the Daily Show spoof eps of his show :)

They knew he'd sandbag all the other candidates and push for Mitt Romney.

Regardless of whether he is batshit crazy or not, one good thing about him was he managed to get liberals hysterical and frothing at the mouth. Thats gotta be worth something :)

You think the host of the 3rd highest rated show on cable TV (even after losing 1 mil viewers) is just going to go away and never been seen again?

He still has the internet, radio and public appearances. There are also other networks. He may even start his own network I've read. Hardly a ROFL if that's the case.

And no one finds it odd that this is happening before 2012 elections? Could be a coincidence, or not. Fox maybe cutting him loose for another reason / agenda.

Glenn is kooky, there is no doubt about it, but this guy is a power hitter in terms of ratings and entertainment.

Sounds like an idiot.

He won't be disappearing by any means. He still has his radio show and will still put out books. There is little to no chance he could launch a network of his own. That is a huge undertaking. Just look at what Oprah is going through trying that.

I think Fox got rid of him for one of three reasons (or maybe a combination of all three).

1. Money. The show still gets good ratings, but they are in decline. However, advertisers are dropping like flies and it is getting harder for them to fill ad spots. So it is possible that the revenue from the show simply was not good enough and they can do better even if the show they put in Beck's place does only a fraction of the ratings.

2. Beck wanted more money. He could have demanded a huge raise and they turned him down so he asked to be released.

3. The liberals are starting to figure out the game. For years the conservatives took shots at liberal establishments like the ACLU, Move On, Daily KOS etc. They used these things as a rally cry for bringing conservatives together. The liberals are now figuring it out and are now using Fox News as their rallying cry. Obama did what Kerry and Gore could not do which is motivate the liberal base. Part of how he and his team did it was pointing at Fox News (albeit it was a pretty small part) and calling Fox News out as an extremist right network that wants to take away your rights. Fox wants to avoid more of that in 2012. By dumping Beck now they move a little more towards the center. I won't be shocked if they replace him with a pretty moderate style show that plays more towards the middle.

His over the top shtick was always petty ridiculous so this seems like a good move by FOX.

Fox did NOT get rid of him, and he has NOT quit. He is very simply not doing the 5:00 show anymore, there is nothing more to this story.

When even basic sponsors pull their commercials because of him then you really have no choice. It's not that fox got rid of him because they have morals, they booted him because he was not bringing in the bread.
