Web Hosting PHP Limits ???

Ok I am doing some research.

Can people name web hosts that will allow shared hosting customers to run php with a max memory size of 128MB and a max execution time of 60 seconds ?

The default seems to be 64MB and 30 seconds with most hosts.

I'm curious about this too - bump

I just spoke with our techs and this is not a problem on our shared hosting.

Hit me up if you have any additional questions:)

Add AmeriNOC.com to your list.

most shared wont let you change it, which sucks for a lot of people using wordpress, as they want to increase the max upload size as well.

Hi, we no longer provide virtual shared services, however we do provide Virtual Dedicated Servers at a very decent price. This allows you to have full control over all your settings, if you are interested shoot me an email or send me over your contact information.

in 2011, 64MB and 30 seconds is a bit too tiny. I am sure more and more people need 128MB and 60 seconds nowadays.

I keep thinking about doing things in PHP, but there always seems to be some
kind of issue with it like this.

datatank 04-07-2011 10:36 AM

I know I have to always get host to up the defaults to get many many scripts to work.
I would guess you need a dedicated box

Sure they can raise it to 128 with no problems unless they are over selling their servers. 128 is fine and a minute would be fine as well.

critical 04-07-2011 11:24 AM

Go VPS and have no limits on things like that. Prices these days are worthy of consideration and you dont have to keep asking for "outside the box" things like
you would with a traditional shared hosting company.

bump for more, I am about to release a script, I want to be able to tell people who to host with.

woj 04-07-2011 06:06 PM

what do you need 128MB for? 64MB is more than plenty for most applications...

You're starting to sound like that quote that's frequently (incorrectly) attributed to Bill Gates! :winkwink:

I'm curious about the 30 vs. 60 seconds thing though, it does seem to be a long time for a web script to be running.

To be honest, it sounds like you need more than a shared server if it is that important. That being said, we have shared servers set up like that.

Rowan, the script processes an enormous amount of data the first time it is run, I have trimmed it down as far as I can.

I'll be posting another thread about the script a little later, if anyone is curious and wants a preview, icq me.
