Looks like Mobile Safari is the most used browser for Android & Iphone then.

plsureking 04-07-2011 02:50 PM

buy the platform you want to build for. if u cant spend a couple hundred for an android phone then u have no business in that arena.

android default browser is more similar to opera than safari. safari is apple only. no one else uses that garbage. opera is also the most popular add-on browser for android. i havent even seen safari in the android market (of course i didnt look for it)

i have 2 iphones, an ipad and an android phone - among others..

.

Maybe, given only 5 responses, however, Firefox was just upgraded on Android the other day, and I added it, and use that now exclusively. :thumbsup

The android browser is built on WebKit. Safari uses it. So does Google Chrome, Konqueror, the Amazon Kindle, WebOS in the Palm phones, KHTML, and many others.

EDIT: my android phone says:

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.1; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko)
Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1

cool, thanks.

I've talked to a TON of people using Android phones and none of them have EVER used Opera as their main browser. My mobile stats pretty much verify this too.

Android phones are in the hand of people who a few years ago would have never considered a smartphone. That means your average idiot (ie. my mom, dad, etc) are using the stock browser...just like they still use Internet Explorer.
