Do you work with music/radio on, or in silence?

Just curious. For me it depends. Sometimes no sound distractions helps me concentrate.:pimp

Depends on the mood. But its most likely that I'll always have music playing, switching from classical to psytrance depending on what I'm working on atm.

Music without lyrics is the best to me

Whilst I still love music, I do find myself listening more and more to talk radio.

I prefer listening to music in my car, when I can crank the volume to 11 :GFYBand:GFYBand

I work to the soothing sounds of the demonic little bastard repeatedly kicking a ball into our dividing fence and dogs barking.

Kiopa_Matt 04-06-2011 01:45 AM

Music on, 24x7 for me.

Emil 04-06-2011 01:50 AM

www.Soma.fm all day.

Music or the radio. Silence is distracting.

Designing, music. Coding, silence.

I always have music on 24/7. Only time it's off is if I'm watching a movie. Other then that I can't live without music. Oh and when I had a bad headache or migraine the music goes off.

Silence is it for me, or on rare occasion, music w/out lyrics. I have a tenuous enough hold on focus as is, and don't need the distraction.

TV background noise

Antonio 04-06-2011 05:04 AM

both, repetitive tasks -> music, if I need to use a few brain cells -> silence

Depends on mood or what I'm doing, sometimes music helps , sometime not

suesheboy 04-06-2011 05:33 AM

More often than not Howard Stern later on in the day the tube. Rarely music or silence.

Spunky 04-06-2011 05:52 AM

The TV is usually on in the background

In the early morning - silence
during the day - tv and radio
in the evening - wife and kids busting my balls

Depends on the type of work. I do 3D animation, so if I'm modeling I listen to anything -- podcasts, standup comedy, any type of music.

If I'm trying to understand a script and animate, then its classical or nothing.
