If you had a Mac, this shit would not be a concern. :2 cents:

~Ray 04-03-2011 05:39 PM

Is that really possible? Then they can redirect all traffic from any forum, site, etc where you can post selfhosted pic?!?!

Young 04-03-2011 05:56 PM

Yes, if they have an image on gfy, they can do with us what they want everytime their image displays.

I got redirected 2 times in the past few days clicking on a thread, sometimes if i check the recent pages button in IE it shows an IP address as the page i visited before while on gfy.

This is what it shows as the previous page i visited while surfing gfy
173.244.222.4/s/in.cgi?4&paramet

glowlite 04-03-2011 09:02 PM

Avast has caught it several times, Good ol' gfy, :)

Doesn't matter where it came from, if GFY gave a shit the forum would be clean.

Dood 04-03-2011 10:05 PM

Your computer is probably infected and is set to redirect pages on gfy.

These are old and outdated but click on Technical Details and look at the list of domains

my pc seems fine

rogueteens 04-04-2011 03:51 AM

I just got redirected from a GFY page, so the problem is still here.

Pornopat 04-04-2011 04:00 AM

It has happened to me a couple of times as well.

seeandsee 04-04-2011 04:21 AM

Looks like comodo+avira+firefox are protecting me on my side :)

cam_girls 04-04-2011 04:29 AM

Got it 10 times.

It's just a WEBPAGE in your browser that looks like a Windows System Screen.

It pretends it's scanning your hard drive, probably harmless unless your buy the anti-dote!

Altwebdesign 04-04-2011 05:15 AM

my browser stops me from re-directing :D

~Ray 04-04-2011 06:50 AM

it is being done every time a certain image loads. It has happened to me twice while visiting the front page, so, it's either a main sponsor or one of those little buttons from smaller adverisers at the bottom.

Chosen 04-04-2011 07:13 AM

No problems here, Opera rocks :thumbsup

you cant send headers twice so an image cannot redirect the page, it is most likely one of the sponsors gfy uses had their server hacked or is intentionally using their ad to infect gfy users

step#1 buy ad block on gfy
step#2 install trojan in code
step#3 count money while sipping jack n cokes on your yacht whilst hot young blondes slobber on your shlong.

It would be helpful to post exactly what GFY pages are redirecting.

As a poster pointed out above, an image alone redirecting is highly unlikely...

However, it's not impossible (ie. corrupted image combined with unpatched software could cause it), so it would be interesting to know what linked image(s) people are experiencing redirects with.

Ron

adultmobile 04-04-2011 02:17 PM

It happens only some time so should be in a rotating banner which display some time.
No one get this redirect from other sites then gfy right?

It keeps popping up every 2 minutes and you cant get rid of it:mad:

abshard 04-04-2011 04:20 PM

Its the small banner at the bottom "Singles 365" that is messing with the back button in IE

the link was replaced, image is hosted by gfy. Can you please let me know if it still happens.

Theo 04-04-2011 05:48 PM

Did anyone notice which particular topic(s) set the redirect? This most likely is related with someone's signature. My guess is we are heading for gfy hosted signatures to prevent this from happening again.

It happened to me twice on initial visit... not clicking on a thread.

Theo 04-04-2011 05:54 PM

thank you Ray, was it on gfy.com or gofuckyourself.com ?

emmanuelle 04-04-2011 05:57 PM

I got it today, and once about a week ago- both from hitting gfy

That would significantly increase server load but when done in the right way shouldn't be a problem, you could even setup external storage for uploads. However, people will still post pics... So, is there a really point in it unless you are going to block image bbcode as well?

Theo 04-04-2011 06:01 PM

you are right on this, but it would be a single photo or two someone would post, a signature is a recurring issue. I'll check with the techs. I remember this problem is coming up all the time over the years.

Yup. that's a good point. Single thread page eventually get abandoned and dead on so fast moving board like this one.
