Why do many big sponsors have so many sites to promote?

Why the big sponsors like Silver Cash or ARS have so many sites to promote?
I guess that even if ARS has 2500 active webmasters, some of their sites don't get many members, simply because webmasters don't promote them. Is a sponsor has 80 sites to promote, webmasters tend to promote the sites that are either sites of "their" niche, or simply the sites that have the best look. So with no doubt some of the 80 sites get only a few members, but the content must be updated anyway on a regular basis.
I thought that perhaps it could be better for sponsors to concentrate only on 5-10 sites, but make really kick-ass sites of them, make their members to stay longer and pay to webmasters $42 insted of $35 per sign up.

maybe my question isn't so important, but I read everywhere that f.e ARS sites have shitty members areas, yet ARS has 80+ sites to promote.
More efforts to make the paysites look better and have better and / or more ( exclusive ) content should mean more satisfied surfers. More satisfied surfers = more surfers who will join a paysite again =- better conversions = more money for us...

exactly, they figure they purchased the members area plugins, so all they need is a crappy tour to add to it and bam, another site

Why make a new site instead of improve an old one?

Simple, if you redesign an existing site, its somewhat hit or miss whether the new design will do better or worse than the old one.
Also, even if the new design does better for most of your affiliates, some affiliates will feel they did better on the old design and want to promote it. Either way you've got unhappy webmasters.

However, if you design a new site, your affiliates can experiement with it at their leisure.

the way most programs run their sites they can manufacture an unlimited number of sites, only the imagination and how much you want to spend on web designs is the limite. Pick any microniche you want, Irish One Legged Bitches, they go find a photoset or two of a chick with red hair, hire a good designer to make a cool design advertising 'Live Chat with Over 100 Irish One Legged Bitches', 25,000 pics of Irish One Legged Bitches and thousands of hours of hardcore video featuring 'Irish One Legged Bitches' - same members area content is used on 'Irish One Legged Bitches' as for 'Bucktoothed Cum Guzzlin Teens' as for 'Ebony Porn Queens' as for 'Midgets In Heat' as for 'Drunk Bikini Girls.....................

it works still, though you do see most of these programs starting to diverge into developing exclusive sites. Hard not to notice how much traffic that used to go to the cookie cutter sites now go to the latest new reality sites or something like EdPowers.com or Mr. Skin.
