Reasonable amount of time to wait for a rep's response?

What's a reasonable amount of time to wait for a response from an affiliate rep who you've asked for help or assistance? E-mailed this guy on Friday morning. Can't catch him on ICQ... never seems to be on despite the fact he regularly posts here "hit me up on ICQ". I'm new to him, he's new to me. Is my "complaint" too soon?

A friday morning email might not be caught up yet depending on the size of the company and email load. Maybe they need an assistant rep to filter emails.

I think asking like you did is fair enough. I wouldnt fire off a pissed off rant yet though, monday's can be hectic not even including emails.

Yeah, I figured Mondays can be bad and have so far opted to give him the benefit of the doubt. But, at least you found time to hit this board and make a contribution.

If you sent an e-mail late on a friday afternoon i would expect an e-mail back latest by the afternoon on the following Monday.

Unless of course the person is on vacation or something...

Rochard 03-28-2011 12:02 PM

Forty-eight hours - don't care about weekends or shows. When I'm on vacation, at shows, etc, I'm always online and easy to reach me via email. ICQ not so much, but email is quick and easy.

Did exactly that. But, he's not been online according to ICQ since my email was sent on Friday.

I would expect an answer within two business days. There can always be a single day off for sick leave, a child being ill at home or just about whatever which prevents you from coming into work a single day and not bothering setting up auto-responders for that. But the next business day, I would expect things to at least be looked at and then receive either a short answer or an apology like "much to do right now, we will review your case within the next few days, sorry for the delay".

24h tops if on a week-day.

Vendzilla 03-28-2011 01:54 PM

If I get a message on friday, you would get a response on friday.
Even if it was lets discuss this on monday, mondays are hectic because of the 2 weekend days of unanswered emails, but affiliate reps should have a smart phone, so unless their email system goes down, no excuse.
Some emails go into a que, but if someone sends me an email to my address, I will respond fast!

AdultKing 03-28-2011 02:00 PM

The whole point of a program having reps is so there is someone available around the clock. Personally I like immediate answers as this is a somewhat immediate business.

When I ask for new tools or creatives and programs or reps drag their feet then they lose me very quickly, I won't dump them, I will just redistribute my traffic and leave them with a trickle.

You didn't mention Friday east or west coast time. Friday afternoon on the West coast might mean your email didn't arrive back east until nearly closing time.

Also, I know in the FFN office, Monday is Meetings day. Until lunch many of the managers are having their weekly meetings and briefings, which makes Monday a super busy day for them. I'd say a fair rate of return would be by Tuesday lunch.

CamChameleon 03-28-2011 02:06 PM

24 to 48 hrs for a response then follow up with another email stressing the importance. If continued silence i would try to reach out to someone higher up forwarding them your previous attempts to contact someone. Surely GFY thread is last resort? :2 cents:

I was just thinking I replied to an email fron the strip club on friday!
