Job Uk based

I have a friend who would like to go and work in UK in IT field. He asked me the following things, and i try to help him:
1. is better to hire a CV writter to make his CV and to pay, or to try to make the CV himself?
2. Which are the biggest IT job recruitment sites from UK?
3. Which are the biggest UK forums ?
4. Does he need a working permit when he will rent a house there? He is from Romania (EU).
Thank you in advance for your help.

With the CV it depends on how good his English is, but generally if it's his second language it would be better to go for a CV writer

Does he have a lot of experience and specialist skills? If not I'd recommend him going direct to companies, that way he'll eventually find one that was too lazy to advertise a job. Since he'll have no competition he'll have a great chance of getting it. If he has specialist skills then track down the companies than use those skills and go direct. It's far better to bypass the recruitment firms wherever possible

He is a SEO Specialist.

Dont even bother comming to the UK Havent you been watching the news latley people are loosing thier jobs and its not just in the public sector There have been huge demonstrations here again today in London

The UK is stuffed and not being funny but we really dont need any more workers comming from abroad when there are 2,53 million unenployed workers here allready

Tell your buddy to stay in his own country :2 cents:

And those are the ones they can't hide with creative stats.

adultforum:
Your friend will need an accession worker card to work in the UK and his employer will need to apply for a work permit for him:

But finding work in the UK as an SEO specialist will be hard I would think and it would make good sense to find a job before he arrives.

halfpint 03-26-2011 01:44 PM

I find it very unfair when we get workers comming from abroad who will work for less money or end up on the dole using my tax money to feed and house them. So many workers come over, work for a year or so then up on the dole We have enough of our own people who cant get jobs and we really dont need any more migrant workers over here

If things were differnt and there was a shortage of workers then fine but with the current state the UK is in we really dont need more migrant workers here.

Your friend does not sound very skilled. How's his English? He could just have googled for that information. And SEO expert? Any formal education? He's probably better off doing freelance work.

iSpyCams 03-26-2011 03:06 PM

If he is any good at SEO he shouldn't need a job.

adultforum 03-29-2011 04:06 PM

He does freelance works already. But he must move to UK because of his wife, and he need to find a job there. London is one of the most expensive capitals.

webgurl 03-29-2011 05:35 PM

I'm living in the heart of central London and can tell you it is very expensive here $$$$$$ ,Changed 25K USD = 15,780pounds , I'm going to need to find a job soon haha..... right now some of my income is poker,
lucky I'm pretty good. There are LOTS of companies hiring here and zillion recruiting agencies. The cutbacks are not affecting online companies. He can find work if he's a good at SEO and it's a bonus if he knows several languages as well. Don't be fooled with the recent riot, that night I had litterally 20 hellicopters surrounding my house too. <sigh>

And the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants working cash in hand or using other peoples N.I. numbers to get jobs.

Can anyone who did adult SEO for many years list his adult sites in his resume? Or he must do some mainstream SEO to get good references? I suppose mostly mainstream companies need SEO managers/engineers.

TubeSubmitters 04-10-2011 03:07 PM

Ask Sid70, he is also from Romania and desperate to leave.

When I used to be in the day job thing, if I listed an adult site on my resume I seemed to get ignored

J. Falcon 04-10-2011 03:23 PM

Seriously, like Davy said, if he were a SEO specialist I'm pretty sure he would know how to research this information on his own without asking you to come here and ask us.

Why do people always come to GFY looking to get their friends jobs? Always found that strange.
