Firefox 4 is Ready

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/

So, what do you think?

candyflip 03-22-2011 10:55 AM

Just opened up a brand new Macbook Pro and that was the first thing I installed.

It seems pretty quick, but I can't really judge because the laptop itself is fucking fast.

bronco67 03-22-2011 10:55 AM

It's just a web browser. Not trying to be facetious. It really is just a web browser, like every other web browser. It's not going to iron my fucking shirts.

BTW, who in the fucking christ is that hottie in the animated gif in your sig?

fatfoo 03-22-2011 10:57 AM

It doesn't look too bad.

TheSenator 03-22-2011 11:13 AM

My tool looks less cluttered.

Hasn't crashed yet....

Firebugs works flawlessly.

No idea who she is or where it came from. I usually like a big thick ass too, but this one memorized me.

DigitalTheory 03-22-2011 11:48 AM

I like the less cluttered look and feel of it. I dislike not having a viewable status bar. Or am I just missing it? The rollover popup on the bottom of the screen is buggin me. Might have to use the add on to get the status bar back.

HomerSimpson 03-22-2011 11:51 AM

looks good but I still prefer Chrome

Is there a way to hide that fucking thing?

I do like the tabs up top where they should be.

just a punk 03-22-2011 11:55 AM

Don't forget to set geo.enabled to false. Otherwise you'll be fucked :)

Chrome doesn't allow to disable your geo location tracking, so big brother is watching you :2 cents:

Agent 488 03-22-2011 11:57 AM

Not that I know of, but I am searching. There is an addon that will give you the old status bar tho.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/235283/

Awesome :) Guess I will try it now.

Firefox is a bloated piece of shit browser that cuts your productivity by 60%. It is an annoyware - force-updating itself every 24 seconds, asking you if you wish to upgrade your plugins every 12 seconds, and taking three times longer to launch than IE and five times longer than K-Meleon

I've been meaning to ask you that. Oh well, you just ruined my week.

bbobby86 03-22-2011 01:35 PM

finally... it is awesome...

signupdamnit 03-22-2011 01:45 PM

Firefox 4.0 is a significant improvement over Firefox 3.x. If you currently run the earlier version you will definitely want to upgrade. While it is still not as fast as Chrome it has more features and extensions and is at least in the ballpark with the new version whereas before it was nowhere close.

I have also read that Mozilla is going for a rapid release of Firefox 5 with many more updates than they have traditionally made in the past. This is said to have been done to push the improvements to users faster and more closely match Chromium's release schedule.

You can disable all those update notifications by going into Edit - Preferences - Advanced - Updates (at least on my copy). IE is integrated into the OS in such a way that gives it an advantage as far as startup times. However, thankfully on average a person might start a browser up three times per day so this represents a grand total somewhere around five seconds per day depending on the system.

CYF 03-22-2011 03:17 PM

I've been using it all day and it's definitely faster. I like it so far.

Ditto, tested it on a laptop and uninstalled after i checked out how much ram it chewed up. By the time its a 4.3 it could be ready.

Machete_ 03-23-2011 06:22 AM

FF is a system resource hog and a slow piece of shit.

2 million were web developers checking to see how much more their website's break in their shitty rendering system.

woj 03-23-2011 07:11 AM
