Samsung?s Laptop Is Lighter, Thinner Than a MacBook Air

Before you rush out and buy that ultrathin MacBook Air, take a look at the Samsung Series 9 Notebook that will begin gracing store shelves starting Thursday.

You might remember this wispy little black number from CES 2011, where we briefly mentioned the Samsung Series 9 amid a flurry of product rollouts. Exciting? Yes, but talk is cheap, and now Samsung delivers this 13.3-inch laptop that?s lighter, thinner and packs a more up-to-date processor than a MacBook Air.

I hate those too - I was really damn disappointed when Apple brought them out as the only option in their imac range.... got an imac in 2009 and was aghast at the colour difference between the rich colours on the imac and those on the powerbook with a 'normal' screen. It also has zero reflect in a room, but I wouldn't like to have it on a laptop that has sun reflections...

Does it run OSX as good as a Macbook?

You can buy a film on eBay for like $6 that you put over your screen to stop it from reflecting so much, it also blocks UV rays or whatever (supposedly).

Probably better, as it has better specs.

The only bad thing about this machine is that it's not a Mac.

Pretty damn expensive though. For that price you can put win7 on a macbook air.

Apple uses the same hardware as everyone else. You can also easily install OSX on most new PCs.

I don't see any drawback.

On a desktop, I'd say these plastic things are definitely worth it as the colour rendition is superior. However, I'm with you on a laptop - it has to be matte
