...the first strikes have been made by French jets and it is being reported that the U.S. will start launching Tomahawks into Libya when night falls.

It has been reported that the Canadian Fighter Jets have been sent to deploy over Libya...all six aircraft.

Notice how when thousands in say Somalia or Zimbabwe are slaughtered, the world response is generally, "well, we're pretty busy, and our resources are spread really thin. We'll discuss this at a conference in the future."

Then all of a sudden, "What?!? Several hundred died in Libya!?! That's it! Mobilize NATO, and get a US carrier group deployed to the region asap. We're going in boys!".

There are several other countries that are sending over aircraft other than the ones you named...I think even some Arab countries.

You said it was "xclint international diplomacy", and I'm assuming you meant Clinton, right? I was pointing out that it doesn't matter who the US President or administration is. If there's natural resource / corporate interests at stake, the US will be going to war.

PS. Don't kid yourself, this will become a war. It will be impossible to win with NATO forces in the air and rebels on the ground, against the Libyan military. Give it another month, and everyone will agree that a ground invasion is required to liberate the Libyan people.

I disagree. NATO forces in the air will destroy the Libyan military, the Libyan military without it's tanks and airplanes is utterly worthless.

This is just the start, it always starts this way, they will keep finding excuses to eventually occupy the country and rape its assets as they always do. Think about it, how did these Rebels get millions and millions of dollars worth of military equipment to start this? And let me ask you this, if a group of people in France or Britain armed themselves with millions of dollars of weapons and started bombing and shooting people and shooting down planes and did all this in the name of "Freedom and Democracy", what do you think the governments of these countries would do? It is now being reported that the Tomahawks were successful and the no fly zone is now active.

B2 Bombers flew from the CONUS and dropped 40 bombs...reportedly on runways...and have returned to the CONUS.

There have been zero reports of Lybian fighter aircraft taking to the skies so their air power now appears to be non-existent.

I would suspect that any jets they may have are from a military pilot changing sides.

i thought the same but then wondered how would the pilots tell each other apart up there? i don't avionics could do that. i would also think the airport/facility have to change sides for this to happen as well, not out of the question.
