Boycott .XXX

Simple,

Don't buy them, stop talking about it and they will fail along with .co domains and the many others.

You may know I sell and buy domains here and there, and I will not be taking part in fucking up other sides of my business.

.xxx has no place online and will fail like many other shit extensions before it :thumbsup

twistyneck 03-18-2011 07:18 PM

Fuck you, I'm going on a buying spree.

u-Bob 03-18-2011 07:21 PM

Ya right, do you really think that a few threads like this will change anything? Common! Lets be honest, money talks, people's opinion doesn't matter.

It's that attitude that leads to people being repressed.

lagcam 03-18-2011 08:00 PM

Whatever your view on the rights or wrongs of .xxx, the harsh reality here is that if you don't protect your valuable adult .coms by securing the .xxx, then you can be sure somebody else will snap them up.

You are right. The action is necessary to achieve anything, but posting here the same and the same is just the vicious circle. The action needs to be planed and hit the target directly in order change anything.

DBS.US 03-18-2011 08:14 PM

I remember one day a friend told me buy all the .US names you can, they will be worth thousands $$$ in a year:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

This is very true I know.

But just by trying to protect yourself, you could also fuck yourself over with this one.

If you have a trademark I assume (please note assume) that it should protect you. But we all know how that goes sometimes aswell.

It's a hard one to call.........

Good point! And I agree, posting a thread here doesn't change anything.

So true! hopefully .XXX will fall under the same heap of TLD fails :thumbsup

slapass 03-18-2011 08:31 PM

get the trademark. that way you get jacked once and not everytime a new tld comes along.. seems reasonable.

DangerX !!! 03-18-2011 08:59 PM

Perhaps a good idea would be to tout the industry opinion.. Most of common mass media agencies don't realize that the industry was against the .XXX tld, what's more, some claim that the industry itself has won the battle over it, could you believe it?

.com is where it's at. All browsers default and assume people want the .com if they omit the extension. Mobile devices include .com on the keyboards. Another extension that will fail for those think just having a domain itself is valuable and don't realize it's the investment in the development of the product on the domain, however, even given that this extension will be profitable for the private business backing it.

I actually ponder the concept of registering sitexxx.com. In the event a cybersquatter makes an attempt to leverage your brand you could also counter it with owning the whateverxxx.com to at least pick up the SE and those who don't properly type in the domain.

just a punk 03-18-2011 11:23 PM

Agreed. I'm happy with my .com and .net domains. What the fuck I need these .xxx for? They will be filtered out by any browser, antivirus and of course by Google until a stupid surfer will care to disable parenting control. So fuck it!

icymelon 03-18-2011 11:28 PM

personally I think a boycott is worthless for this. I understand the sentiment but its just not realistic.

Fabien 03-19-2011 03:33 AM

I won't buy a fucking single .xxx domain
TRUST ME

This is part one to create a ghetto

Now you assholes jump into creating tube sites ?
Now don't buy .xxx DOMAINS DAMN IT or it's the end

bbobby86 03-19-2011 04:17 AM

boycott boycott... yea...

AdultKing 03-19-2011 04:33 AM

After 15 years, I have had one simple rule.

.com is king
.net and .org are great alternatives if the .com is taken.

There is a very good reason why GoDaddy regularly has $1.99 .info domains and .biz makes companies look dodgy which is the exact opposite of the intention of that TLD.

.com is king until domains become a thing of the past.

sidenote: .com.au , .co.uk and .co.nz are great for regional work!

They have over 200k pre-orders for .XXX domains. :-(

Good look with your boycott.

In a sorry attempt to protect children, they just doubled the amount of online porn. Way to go! #Winning

It's fail or success all depends on how Google will treat it. As of now............

I wonder how many of them are squatters? Although I?m sure many in our industry already reserved theirs. Fucking shame because anyone that did so is only supporting the pricks and in my opinion what their proposing still has a long way to go. Dot com is the wall street of the internet, I can?t imagine any legislation forcing a business to move from it; and if they did where would it end, should it apply to some fashion designers, Hollywood movie studios, search engines, even some news sites and a bunch of others?

Get copyright on your domain names I recently enquired about a mainstream domain name of mine and was presently suprised that is not expensive at all. For an individual offer for 1 copyright registration which wil give you a link to your certificate and assisatance in the event of litigation it only costs £31 about $60
