New speed bumps

This is in Canada. A 2-D image of a kid playing, creating the illusion that the approaching driver will soon blast into a child :)

Pretty scary but I guess it does the trick. Hopefully they won't confuse kids with speed bumps from now on :helpme:1orglaugh

holy shit i'd totally be going 40mph if not for that

I'd rather have that than the HUGE speedbumps that my old car would bottom out on. I literally had to avoid a ton of places just because I couldn't get past the speedbumps. Some of them are okay, but some of them are just ridiculous.

Seriously who comes up with retarded shit like this?

Here they started using these speed bumps on roads that are only wide enough for one car to pass at a time. So you have a moderately busy standard suburban street and you have to rely on the car coming from the other direction not to be a total dick (a big ask in Australia btw) and stop. Then you have a little game of who is allowed to go first. Oh and for added 'safety' they don't mind putting putting three of these in a space of 200m or so.

cry wolf one too many tiimes and nobody will listen when the wolf actually comes.

people will get used to seeing them and disobey..atleast the speed bumps actually stopped you from speeding.

We have a local shopping center that cracks me up. If you go along the front side of the buildings where the doors (and thus the foot traffic), there are no speed bumps. But if you go on the outside, there are huge speed bumps. So no one goes on the outside of the parking lot, and everyone speeds past the front of the stores. It's fun.

This will just train people, that speeding and hitting kids is ok. I'm already ok with it - glad to see it's catching on.

Once you get used to having to drive over something like that you'll be flattening jaywalkers by the dozen.

Incredibly stupid idea.

WTF were they thinking?

The drawn picture only looks like a real child from the right angle. This is an interesting view of how a 2D image drawn on a flat surface can be mistaken for a 3D image. The head has 2 eyes for the reason of measuring how close an object is. This is why you might look cross eyed if you are trying to look at something very close to your face.

who the hell lets their kids play with a pink beachball in an underground parking lot?
