promotion with torrents
 

Hi guys,

Just a simple question..

Does promotion on torrentsites work? For example if i would upload a few trailers with my url in the video?

and if they know how to use torrents and stumble upon the trailers, they would have zero problems finding all your content and if they don't find yours, they still have like one million tons of full videos to choose from

back in the day, I got really hooked on promoting via P2P networks and made a few bucks by offering fake images and using pay per email, but then again, I didn't make nearly enough to write home about

Marketing your content to surfers that need to manually enter your watermark URL into a search engine after they watch the video is probably not a very beneficial marketing strategy. Although, it does help to a certain extent being that it gets your URL out there - but there are much better ways to market your content. I would stay away from the torrents.

They come to torrents to watch full videos, not trailers. Get them wet with the trailer and guess what their next search will be for... the full video. They won't go to your site to pay for it when they're already on a site full of pirated videos.

They will also be smart enough to look at file size as an indication of video length, they'll know right away its a trailer.

I can see it helping with branding, but to get paying surfers, not so much.

Bit torrent was designed to ease bandwidth costs for people giving away free stuff, not to promote paid content.

I agree that people on those sites are not looking for trailers.. they want a full movie to download.
But for the name branding it could help a little bit maybe. If i include a txt file with those trailers with the full url of our website and maybe some extra information.
I know that 95% on those sites are looking for the free stuff, but maybe i could reach that 5% of the people who can get interested...
