FTP Program that won't re-ftp the whole movies

hey all
I use WS FTP, pretty good program, but when my connection blinks, if I'm in a middle of FTPing a video, it prompts me to overwrite or resume (obviously), but no matter what I choose, then it overwrites the WHOLE movie, instead of starting where it left of.
Anyone knows of an FTP program that will allow interrupted movies to start at the stopping point, instead wasting hours of my time?

WS_FTP does have the feature to resume transfers. Check the documentation, there is also a setting that you may need to change on the server side.

WS_FTP Pro can automatically resume interrupted transfers or transfer attempts when the application is started, if the WS_FTP Pro application is terminated while:

CuteFTP Pro 8.0 does this. Even if the file transfer is interrupted and you have to re-boot the computer.

In my experience trying a few of these apps including WS FTP, none of them actually worked at resuming broken uploads to my servers (Phatservers) like they claimed except for Cute FTP Pro.

I use filezilla, don't know if it does that, I kinda baby sit uploads

Sometimes its your server settings as well.

It does not matter what client you are rocking if your server does not support resume. This seems to happen with lower end hosting companies more and more.

It could very possibly be on your server side. Check with your host.

Filezilla is the best program on earth in the history of the world

darksoul 03-03-2011 03:15 AM

Its already been said but your ftp server needs to be configured to allow resume

+1 for Filezilla :)

But it sounds more like a server problem. Maybe WSFTP tries to resume, server says "not allowed/supported" and therefore WSFTP over-writes the file.

I'd recommend trying another program (like Filezilla, it's free ...) and if it doesn't work I'd contact the host and ask if resuming is supported.

what he said.

Even if the server doesn't support resume, Filezilla, you can tell it "overwrite files of different size" or something like that and it'll leave preexisting files alone
