Past lurker, new member, and soon to be webmaster

Hey everybody!
I'm a newbie to the adult web business but have been a webmaster of various sites (largest reached ~1800 forum members) since I was about 13 years old. I've been lurking on the forum for about a week now and finally registered on Thursday night after l finding some content I was interested in but couldn't contact the person selling it. I've been reading a bunch and have learned a lot already and just wanted to thank everyone for making this site as informative as it is. I just got my account approved today and wanted to make an introduction thread to let everyone know about me/what I do and to try to make some friends and contacts. I have an extremely good idea for my website that I'm sure will bring in TONS of traffic. I live in a college town called San Luis Obispo, CA. There are 2 major colleges within a 10 mile vicinity and a lot of hot girls around here. There are also a lot of people that would pay good money to see girls they thought went to their school naked. "SLO Hoes" is already a common phrase for the easy girls downtown (we have a large bar/night scene). I'm not really sure what direction I'm going to go with for the website but I know that it will be very easy to market. I already have a street team assembled (read: a bunch of friends) to put up stickers and I plan on making tshirts and hoodies to give out at events and for people to wear around downtown. I'm a senior in college living off of student loans and a part time job so I don't really have a lot of money to throw around but I figured I could find someone that would show me the ropes/help me get up and running if I shared my profits with them or offered to link to their website. I have access to a plotter cutter and was planning on making a bunch of stickers but I don't want to get sued by the city for having people put them up everywhere and definitely don't want to get kicked out of school for putting them on campus. Does anyone have any experience with physical advertisements/knowledge of the legal ramifications for doing something like that? I tried to make sure the website kept me anonymous because I could see a lot of people getting offended over a name like SLO hoes. My name/info doesn't show up when I run a whois on my domain, is there any other way that people could find out who I am from my website? I've got a bunch of other questions but I'll save them for now-- don't want to be a nuisance already. :winkwink:

Sounds like a good way to get kicked out of school, or get stomped by an angry bf or dad!

Don't worry though, the publicity will be great!!! :thumbsup :winkwink:

Sorry about the linebreaks haha, I've been waiting to post for a while and got too excited I guess.

@Alias: I already use WordPress as the CMS for a couple other websites I run. I've looked around for some adult themes but I couldn't find anything that really caught my attention design wise. I'm familiar with Dreamweaver and Photoshop (I've taken a few web design classes) so I was thinking about just doing it by hand although I'm not really sure how practical that will be in the long run.

I've been working on some sketches for a logo with my tablet and Illustrator, I'll make a poll when I'm done and you guys can help me pick the best ones. :thumbsup

Cool, keep us posted on the logo.

Simple themes like this are nice: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/jenny

I just used one from: http://www.web2feel.com/ yesterday and I am happy with it. Basically, you can use any theme for adult.

Edited for those who said tl;dr

This part is an introduction to GFY/about me and is relatively unimportant. Skip if you want.

I originally said I was looking for someone who could show me the ropes/help me get up and running for a % of my profit but I'm just going to use my next paycheck to buy some ex-gf content from either NaughtyRob or Sologirlscontent.

My website idea/plan of action:

"SLO Hoes" is already a common phrase for the easy girls downtown (we have a large bar/night scene). I'd be willing to bet money that some girls will even think this is trendy/cool and rep SLO Hoes for me.

-Have a street team assembled
-Have access to a plotter cutter, going to make vinyls and stickers to put everywhere.
-Can have tshirts made for $2 a piece, planning on giving them away at events and handing them out at bars downtown
So far I have planned:
-Wordpress for CMS
-Hiring some girls to take SLOhoes photos with it either written on their body or on clothing
-Ex-gf/amateur style content from GFY members
-Custom content with recognizable places in San Luis Obispo

Where do you get $2. tshirts, and what quality/size are they?

You are going to try and market your "extremely" good idea based on some local slang that no one outside of the San Louis Obispo area has ever heard of?

fatfoo 02-28-2011 07:25 PM

Welcome, SL0H0ES. Good luck with your ideas to bring more traffic.

I don't plan on marketing it anywhere but SLO, i.e. no SEO/backlinks/etc. Just old fashioned physical advertisement. This website isn't meant to be a long term project, just for a couple years. Also, SLO county is pretty big and includes more than just the city of San Luis. SLO is a college town and consists probably of 70% college students, 45-50% of which are not from the area. I used to have a hit counter on the index/coming soon page and after only about a week I had over 300 hits. The cool part is that I only told like 2 or 3 people about it at work and it went viral that fast.

TangibleAsset 02-28-2011 07:41 PM

I forgot to mention, I have a friend who is an up and coming journalist that works for the Mustang Daily (Cal Poly's newspaper) and said he'd write an article about the site. They print anything that causes controversy and SLO Hoes will definitely get people talking.

Yeah, keep the hit counter off your site, use a stats program. Whats being said about your idea is that you are limiting your audience, 300 hits really is nothing in the scheme of things, could be 5 guys hitting your site 60 times each.

Don't limit yourself to one county

Local is right! He will be operating in a town of something like 40,000 people, of which probably half are students or associated with the University. Good luck remaining anonymous for long, especially with your "street team".

SLOHOES, since you said you are a Senior, I presume that you will graduate in the coming months - unless you are planning on hanging around SLO after graduation, why not just educate yourself more until then and begin building your site, and release it after you are free and clear of school and the area?

Oh yeah, and post some samples of what SLO Hoes look like already... :Graucho

It makes no sense to market a web site with physical advertisements in some super limited area using possibly illegal tactics. Way too much work, too much risk, too little reward, no point at all to doing this. If you want to recruit some local girls to have fun shooting them, fucking them and making a few bucks with selling the content on your web site or wherever that's fine, have at it. But no need to let everyone in the area know what you are doing and banking on the hope that there are enough locals to become aware of our site who will become paying customers.

get backlinks.... even if you are counting on type-ins, a lot of people still don't know what the location bar is for and simply go to google and type the url in the search field....

btw: welcome and go fuck yourself in the ass with a fistful of rusted nails.
