EXGF niche: played out or still hot?
 

Seems to me like the EXGF niche may have peaked and be on the downswing, what do you guys think?

By the way.... this niche may seem new (EXGF domains are pretty new) but the amateur niche itself is old and will always be around.

One of my customers sites ranks very strong on Google for many EXGF keywords and as far as I know hes making a killing with that traffic.

Can someone please explain to me how "ex-gf" is different than "amateur"?

It is like saying that a pair of denims is different than another just because the name on the label and the stitching on the pockets is different. Call it whatever but the fact remains that a pair of blue jeans is still a pair of blue jeans and a rose is still a rose by any other name.

When I hear the term "amateur" in relation to porn, it reminds me very directly of those old VHS amateur porn movies with swingers and couples having sex for fun while their friends film it and maybe to sell their sex tapes, a lot like your original Homegrown amateur series. While "Ex-GF" makes me think of internet photos & videoclips that cute teen girls (18+ or not) or their boyfriends put on their MySpace & Facebook, whether it's the real thing scraped off the net illegally or the content like I shoot simulating that look. You can argue that Ex-GF is just a type of amateur, but I believe the terminology used makes other people also think of these as two very different things.

Ok, no offense but that just sounds like content producer mumbo jumbo sales spin to make it sound unique. It is not possible to draw the comparison along those lines simply because there was no FB or Myspace then.

The low incidental lighting, the non-pro make up, the look of "shot at home" are all affectations to simulate amateur, imho.

It is about presentation not content, sell the sizzle not the steak.

The reality is that the term "Ex-GF" caught on for what ever reason and it means something very particular to a lot of surfers and webmasters. Young looking girls (mostly), self-shot & mirror pics, MySpace style goofy expressions, etc. You can argue that Ex-GF is just a type of amateur, and you would be correct, but so what? You are just arguing semantics. Ex-GF may be "amateur" but all amateur porn can't realistically be called Ex-GF.
