You can see the ICANN Meeting in Brussels here.
The link to the online viewers are about half way down the page. They will be talking about the GAC advice on the gTLDs and the XXX sTLD. It's down to the wire today and tomorrow; and, I'm betting two to one that XXX goes down like the Titanic.:2 cents:
Enjoy and hope to see you online.:thumbsup http://meetings.icann.org/board-gac-spring11 |
By the way....the meeting starts about 2:30am EST.

The meeting is getting ready to start......running sound checks now. Agenda for today and tomorrow are posted.
|
Meeting is still live, coffee break right now.
|
It has really been very interesting. They are talking about illegal use of DNS right now by those selling illegal pharma and the effects of perceived illegal activities on future strings.

Meeting just adjourned for the evening in Brussels.
It will kick off again tomorrow at about 2:30am EST. |

I also do not see it listed on any of the itinerary. There was lots of interesting talks on geographical domains and giving countries the right to yoink any geographical location they can lay claims to. I imagine amazon.com will not take to kindly to this. |
As it turns out, I don't think that .XXX is going to be directly discussed at this meeting or a decision announced. At the start of the meeting, the ICANN Board even stated that this meeting was not the required consultation with the GAC that is mentioned in the bylaws.
This meeting is laying the groundwork for GAC advice which has been opposed to the .XXX sTLD. On that basis, the discussion of objectionable strings was very interesting. I'd guess the real decision on .XXX will be made at the SF ICANN meeting in mid-March. The meeting kicks off again at about 2:30am EST. Tonight's session has some open time slots that do not have the topics listed so we will see what come up. Just my opinion. No fear, just knowledge. |
