Has anyone here actually bought a 3d tv?
If so tell me about it. I'm looking to replace my 5 year old projector system with a 65 or 73 inch. I saw a infomercial about Mitsubishi DLP 3d last night, very convincing and I was close to ordering, but i thought DLP was ancient?

don't do it yet...the tv's w/out glasses are on the way and the OED TVs are indestructible made of a carbon based material..Sledge hammers can't smash the screen
|
Nope - useless technology - just go for Panasonic's 152-inch TV (PS it's 3D ready too)
http://ca.gizmodo.com/#!5442012/pana...biggest-tv-yet http://www.theaccidentalcommunicator...st-tv_5906.jpg Actually even sales rep's I talk to say not to get anything for a few reasons. 3D probably won't be comping to satellite or cable - movies in 3D are huge now but the thrill will wear off - and the TV's now aren't compatible if you have a friend with another TV, eye wear is limited to only a couple of glasses - so if you have a party - forget it. |
I was also about to buy one but the technology is still in its infancy and although Samsung 3D beats the shit out of the 3D you see in theaters it still has a way to go. Plus there just arent enough blue rays in 3D yet. As sologirl said there is OED coming soon and im told will be worth the wait. I settled for a 46 LED system with Blue Ray (Blue Ray and wi fi free from BestBuy ) which will go in the master bedroom when a decent OED comes out :thumbsup

3d tv is just wrong.... 3d belongs to the cinema....:2 cents:

I was looking at them as I needed a replacement 42 inch TV that sits on my fireplace mantle. I decided against a 3D TV, as I was going to have to replace my receiver, since only newer receivers have HDMI switching that can handle 3D signals. That's something to keep in mind if you have a surround sound setup and use your receiver for video switching.
Went with a 120 hz LED instead. The price premium is still too high on the good 3D sets. I did see a 50 inch plasma that was very cheap, but it was only 720P, which seemed pointless to sacrifice video quality for the 3D effect. Why not just keep your screen and get a new 3D projector? (I assume when you say projection system, you are talking about front projection). Optoma has some great 3D projectors that are very cheap and high quality. Also, the bigger the screen, the better the 3D effect. That is why you don't see many 3D TV's less than 50 inches (with a few exceptions). |

Nope. No interest in 3D at all.
A good HD picture in the home suits me fine! |
I have a Samsung 55" 3d tv. Directv has 4 channels in 3d I think. Not too many dvd's out there in 3d yet.
|
I think of getting one...

I have a 55" Samsung LED 3D and I enjoy it. When something better comes out, I'll get something better.
You only live once, people. Get in the game or stand on the sidelines, you decide. |
Choker get LED, 3D is to early.

When the glasses are gone, then I'll think about it -- but I won't be buying a TV because its 3D, it'll just be standard at that point.
I'm as tech geeky as they come, but I can't find the energy to even be a little excited about everything being in 3D. ---and from a professional standpoint, it gets even worse. I do medical 3d animation for a living. We've already made the bump to HD, which has almost killed me, now I'm going to have to render double the frames to support 3D. I doubt I'll be able to charge double the price, but my workload and storage space is going to go to hell when clients start demanding everything in 3D. |
Naw,just a faze that people will eventually get tired of putting on glasses all the time
|
I have LED Samsung UE-40C7000WW and i enjoy it.

Buying 3D TV now is for suckers:2 cents:
|
It won't be long before 3d without glasses and you can even do it without glasses and even 3d without glasses with a standard 1080P tv and blu ray player
|
The glasses aren't an issue - 3D is great - Samsung. There aren't that many titles but they are very very cool. Nature stuff, especially ocean stuff, is amazing with 3D. It is definitely the next wave. After watching 3D it is hard to go back. Now if only games (Dragon Age 2) would come in 3D...

Coming from LEGACY If that TV is 152 inches that must be a 10 foot Harlem Globetrotter! |
People that make entertainment should focus on quality of story and content, instead of trying to sucker us with fancy tech gimmicks. Same goes for porn, except for the story part -- no one gives a shit about story in porn.

go with a non-3d led tv, 3d is a fad that will go as soon as a tv with 3d with no glasses feature comes out $200 glasses are just unreasonable to watch something with shittier colors and shit
|
Depends if you want to wait 2 years for 60inch no glasses 3D.
