Word Press Install Question
I had WP installed on an existing site. I got well into the set-up and suddenly got this error message below. Now I can't get to the admin.
Not Found The requested URL /wp/wp-login.php was not found on this server. Same thing happened when I tried to set-up WP on another existing site. I've set-up WP on 4-5 brand new sites with no content and there wasn't a problem. Is it because the DNS wants to redirect index.php to index.html? If I need to do a second install, what should I do different? Thanks |
try /wp/wp-admin/wp-login.php

I have installed WP 1,500+ times and never seen that error before. Maybe it is some kind of .htaccess issue?

index.html won't work, you need index.php

This is what the link should be:
http://groovyguys.com/wp-login.php But it brings up a weird, stripped down log in page. Click that and you get the error message. |
That weird page is the correct one.. You have installed wordpress in the root directory instead of at /wp
However, you also have data inside your DB that is pointing to /wp and that is why that page looks weird. Because the CSS links and JS links are all created on the fly and they point to /wp |
yeah you must have had it previously in /wp/ but didn't change the setting in the General Settings to remove it. Best bet is to a find/replace in your DB for /wp/ and replace it with /
