Need a mobile device... any advice?
 

Need a mobile computing device with 2 way wireless statefull internet acess. Not 802.11x, but GSM or something similar. Needs to be small. Needs to have a fully functional web browser. Needs to have a fairly large application base.

Any adivce?

I use the Samsung A500 color lcd phone from Sprint with theit "Vision" option. Great for checking my server stats, just had to rewrite a few things to fit into the tiny WAP browser. ARS has a WAP stats page as well... Handy.

Samsung A800 or Nokia 7250.

I got a Toshiba with an 400MHZ xscale processor and i love the thing. I opted for the IEEE wifi but you can get them with the BlueTooth Technology and use your cell-phone a normal phone to dial into your ISP of choice.

Danger Sidekick available only if you have T-Mobile in your area....


Check CNET for reviews. It is GSM but only as good as service in your area. Pretty good deal the first year and I almost got one. It is unlimited data XFER the first year but... that changes to a certain amount of megabytes and then what appears to be a pretty stiff overage charge beginning year 2.

It has a browser(Not WAP), cell phone, instant messager(AIM), and very basic PDA.....

Very unique and compact device.
