now that's a blockbuster. every decent player on the Knicks plus a 1st rounder - how the hell can the Nuggets make room for everybody? as crazy a deal as it is it's potentially good for both teams - potentially great for the Knicks.

If the Knicks sign Chris Paul they are going to be contenders.

Well. I agree with you on this to see so many solid player go. The nuggets did have to give up a lot of people as well. So there will be room for the new players they are getting. Knicks also got Chauncy Billups who might be a little old in the tooth, but he is extremely clutch and a great shooter. I know he is not the long term option for the Knicks, but for this year. He should be good to keep them in the playoff hunt this year. So if you think about it. The Knicks didnt give up that much for what they got.

Danillo Gallinari, who I wish did not have to go, will be easily replaced by Carmelo,

Wilison Chandler is good, but will be a free agent at the end of the year and will ask for big
money despite the fact he is injury prone.

Raymond Felton, I really liked his hard nosed play, but I am good with Billups till the end of the year. He is a much better shooter then Felton and a solid veteran,

Tomify Mosgov, I dont need to write much here.

Do you understand what a contender is? You took away all your youth, and added a player that not only doesn't complement Amare, but plays even less defense. Carmelo is going to get them into the first round, and Carmelo is going to get them booted from the first round.

Interesting but I think Miami is the only team my LA has to think about. Should be a interesting playoffs though.

Miami? LOL. There are teams better than Miami. Like Spurs and Celtics.

Agreed, I'm not sure this makes the Knicks better right now. You've now got 2 guys in Amare and Melo who are known for their potent offense and desire to have the ball in their hands. However they both play little defense and the Knicks have very few supporting players left to help them. Of course if they can land Chris Paul next year then they'd have an incredible nucleus to build around. The Knicks will probably bring Isiah back to screw it all up.

I said, 'have what it takes' as in pieces. They are gonna need a few more pieces. But they now have the building blocks is what I meant. I don't see them contending for a title this year. In my eyes all that was taken away was Felton and Gallinari, Chandler is gone at the end of the year. As well as he is playing hurt. And Mozgov will have about a 10% success rate as someone who might put in good minutes for a team. From that. They got a 25 point a game scorer. The knicks players now dont play D, so nothing has really changed. With a good point guard and a bigman. They are contenders.

I completely agree. Knicks need a good point guard , chris paul or darran williams. And get a big body to clog the middle. A Mark Gasol or someone of that caliber. Not a top rate big guy. But someone who can rebound and play the middle.

Great trade for New York if Anthony can adjust to D'Antoni's system...Melo tends to hog the ball a bit too much and D'Antoni has shown he knows only one way to coach. If the Knicks get Chris Paul in the offseason they are going to be a fun team to watch again.

I think the Knicks are worse off now. They had a young base that had lots of potential. Now instead of one superstar who doesn't play D, they have two superstars who don't play D, and a coach(I love him but..) who doesn't coach D. Their roster is now weak and not sure they have cap space to bring anyone in soon.

I think we gave up a bit too much. We really need a legitimate center. And not a Dwight Howard type of guy. Just a good versatile big body that might draw some defense. But I do think this just had to happen. Sometimes you build youth just to trade them away. Luckily we kept Fields. I would have liked the Felton/Billups part of the trade not happen. Felton was playing very well and looked like he could play better and I feel Billups is past his prime. We'll possibly get out of the first round this year. Next year, with some small additions, we will really be able to push teams around.

I just hope this doesn't end up like the last time we brought a Brooklynite home to The Knicks.

On a side note: I am actually pretty impressed with the Russian owner of the Nets who drove the price up just so the Knicks would have to give away alot of their long term future. Remember this is the same guy who posted a billboard across from MSG for the Nets when the LBJ circus was in town. He knew Melo would never sign with the Nets but just enjoyed making Dolan have to dish more out.

If you hear what the Knicks management say, they did not make this trade for this year, but for the upcoming years. They need a good guard and as you mentioned. A big body in the middle. Maybe Marc Gasol or someone similar.

TheDemon, I dont know how you find them worse off, unless you are a nuggets fan. Yes. Billups is past his prime, but Felton was a product of Dantoni's system. With 2 big free agent point guards on the market this offseason. I doubt Felton would have been there next year anyhow. They would have traded him for the cap space anyway to get a Chris Paul or Darren Williams. Billups will be good for this year and maybe next (which he has an option for). He might opt out and retire. Who knows. For now, Billups is a big time clutch shooters. He has a lot of playoff experience and a lot of knowledge of the game, which Felton has none.

Any real person who knows basketball (not me, sports analyst and such) all say is a good trade for the Knicks. The only people who have been saying the Knicks got the raw deal are people from Denver.
