admin to customer, 01/19/2011 17:57:39 ------------------ This is complete. customer to admin, 01/19/2011 17:55:50 ------------------ Can I get these two domains setup? Thanks Kris |
really don't see why this is something you post about here.
on webair and few other hosts i know of you add the domain yourself in a second (after you change the dns at registrar of course). |
because it's very hard to set up a domain
|
simply put, i know nothing about setting up such stuff...
i thought it was impressive for managed hosting..... nothing more, nothing less |
It's nothing to write home about, but yeah, NatNet are the best host out there.

Haha havent seen you around in a long time. |
takes me < 10 seconds roughly , but for a managed server it is impressive.

and I am still technically impaired |
Yeah adding a domain name is a really intensive task - those guys are shit hot!
Fucks sake, dont they offer direct admin? |
Shouldn't this be automated and instant? CPanel does it in real time.
|
I love NatNet too :thumbsup
Been with them for like 5+ years. Recently tried a new project and got hosting elsewhere to save money since NatNat can be a bit higher priced. Worst decision ever! Am too spoiled by NatNet support which makes my secondary host look like total crap. All support from this "other hosting company" including setting up new domains takes up to 2 hours or more. Have a friend who's there #1 client and gets fantastic support straight from the owner. Owner has no idea who I am or what I really run elsewhere so I get basic low end support filled with excuses when things aren't done right. Am going to cancel that host and move it all over to Natnet 100%. This other hosts "top tier" support is what NatNet gives all their clients. In summary NatNet gives small under $1K monthly accounts better support that $10K+ monthly accounts on other host. Natnet all the way. |
sounds like a good review :)

Mikey!! Wow!!! Haven't seen or heard from you in ages. How are you, my friend?? Talk about a long time customer....I bet your customer number is single digits, huh? ;) Thanks for the kudos, Mikey, but it is not necessary. It is what you have paid us for all these years.
As for everyone asking why we don't simply use control panels like all the other hosting companies out there, the reason is simple. Most hosting companies love to push some of the work back onto the customer because it absolves them of responsibility. With that said, they are right in that adding a domain is easy. In fact, we have a script that our techs use to add them that 100% of our customers are smart enough to use if we were so inclined. If we did that, 95% of the time our customers would be perfectly OK...the problem is that 5% of the time something that nobody thought about may pop up. Maybe it is something as easy as a DNS issue....maybe you are adding a domain that has expired from the registry.....those are easy fixes still....but what about the more complicated ones? Let me use this example....if you put in a ticket for us to set up the domain jenniferannistonsextape.com there is a pretty good chance that we would ask you if you really had that video. First, we would want to see it for "research purposes" only! LOL!! But the bigger reason is because if you really had it there is a good chance that we should set up that domain differently due to the obvious popularity of such a site. Maybe we should consider a new server or 10, since it is a single file with a ton of download potential maybe we should consider a CDN. Maybe we need to look into load balancing. NONE of this would come up if you simply used a control panel to input your domain. Having that human element allows us to hopefully stay one step ahead of your needs....which is always our goal. Are we 100%? Sadly, no....but that doesn't mean we will stop trying. Hope that answers the question. Thanks everyone who commented!!! --T |

I don't use natnet anymore but I did use them for about two years, I opened over 150 tickets and every ticket was answered in about 5 minutes or less. I looked through them once and didn't see one time they took much longer, maybe a few minutes sometimes. With most web host you'll be waiting at least 20 or so minutes just to get a reply. When you do finally get a reply the problem better something simple. If the problem is serious the ticket will be forwarded to someone else which takes time. Then it might be forwarded again depending on how many levels of support they have. Then you better hope their top level support isn't busy and takes hours or even days to reply. Once their top level support guys work on your problem you better hope they fix it because their replies may take a long time. There's other shit you have to worry about with web host too. If you're trying to get something installed will they even help? Natnet will, they'll even install scripts. Will the host charge you extra for installing what you need? Plenty of host do, Natnet does not. Will the host read your whole ticket and not just skim through it? Natnet will, every other host I've tried seems to skim through tickets sometimes. They're probably busy so they don't have time to read the whole ticket. That seems to be very common with web host. |
I love the guy's at NatNet!
