Nah, adult has those tricky laws for those over 18 in like 3 different states. Michigan is one of them. You have to be for sure, without a shadow of a doubt, they are over 18 if you were sending them porn mail. Plus most backbone providers are not cool with porn mail.

I am specifically thinking mainstream.

There are a gazillion.

I've used bluestreak, responsys, cheetahmail and lyris. Wouldn't recommend lyris.

This may help

http://econsultancy.com/uk/blog/2096...rvice-provider

And it's very straightforward to get the suppression lists for those 3 states, just costs money.

aweber is probably the biggest and best

I mean that I wouldn't recommend using Lyris.

Aside from teh software being hella ugly and slow and their tool set missing in some ease of use, I think their deliverability sucks, and their deliverability team are a joke. And their pricing is ridiculous. I wanted a second IP, so I could use one to clean the hard bounces and the other for the sending. I was paying then 1500 a month. They wanted another 350 A MONTH for a second IP.

Cocks.

Wow, that's crazy.

From what I've researched, you can get a good MTA like DA for $3000.00 or you could go with the Bloosky dudes and get a free MTA, templates, affiliate network contacts, etc.. for a revenue share deal.

I guess it comes down to how much shit you have or want to mail.

kristin 02-17-2011 10:01 AM

AWeber ftw.

True dat.

However, for many they simply opt to forgo adult and focus on mainstream. Less grief from the upstreams, and laws to worry about.

I use Aweber... I'll be using 1shoppingcart's in the coming months on another project. You can send one-click links in the emails.

Good feedback sire. :thumbsup

Aweber is for beginners, and people who are getting their feet wet. By far the best 3rd party service out there is http://www.infusionsoft.com/

Or if you want to pony up about $50,000, and go high-end, go with http://www.strongmail.com/.

I am sure everyone has their opinions based on who and what they are mailing.

When it comes to the 3rd party, ESP game, opinions and experience is varied big time.

i just pissed myself...

thats why some of the top marketers that make millions a year use aweber...

aweber and getresponse are both equally good...

plus, your mail will get delivered...

i love when someone goes out and spends a bunch of money on an in house set up and then gets all their mail shit canned by the isps...

i would rather spend time and money building a buying list than a volume list and the above mentioned companies work just fine.. :2 cents:

For one, those "top marketers" are probably bullshit artists, who lie through their teeth in order to convince you to buy their useless junk.

Second, Aweber's website even states anyone with a list over 25,000 needs to contact them for pricing. They cater to the small-time operations. Ever have an operation that sends 500,000+ e-mails per day? Aweber doesn't cut it for larger-scale operations.

Then again, everyone has their own needs, and depending upon them, Aweber could be a great fit.

Go for aweber its awesome

I'm assuming most of you know this, but for example Infusionsoft doesn't allow adult marketing. Even when you don't see that in a company's terms, call them and ask them and you'll see what I mean. ;)

Mutt 02-18-2011 01:02 PM

if i build up a legit opt-in mail list i have to use one of these third party email services and pay them?

and if i don't have a list they'll send my email to their own lists?

You need to build up your own lists... sending your emails to a list that isn't your own is spam, and a really bad idea. I don't think any reputable email service would allow that.

Yes you need to use a whitelisted email sending service if you want to inbox a reasonable rate. Of course you could set up one yourself, but it takes quite a bit of money and knowhow. Email marketing can be quite tricky.

As for mailing to their lists, sure many people offer such a service if you pay for it. You would need to ask around.

It can be....

* MTA (Rev Share/Free - $3000.00+ per server or cluster)
* List Hygiene (A good service like IW, 5mm = $1250)
* Domains
* Web Hosting
* Affiliate Offers (many require review before approval)
* Creatives

amateurcanada 02-18-2011 04:36 PM

You mean I can't use PHPLIST? it has some cool experimental features lol.

Theo 02-18-2011 05:49 PM

robomail from inter7 is another great product

Barry-xlovecam 02-18-2011 11:04 PM

Do not email lists?

Michigan
Utah
And 3# is?

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 02-18-2011 11:14 PM

Go with Aweber or GetResponse if you're looking for someone else to handle your mailing solution.

I really like Interspire Email Marketer running on my own server though.

gaffg 02-19-2011 02:47 AM

aweber, vertical response, constant contact, icontact

My apologies champ, I was thinking of California's law as the third.

Utah and Michigan "Do-Not-Email" Programs Take Effect ...

I frankly do not worry about it since I do not send mail other than to the members of my porn sites. Since you must have a credit card to purchase, they must be 18.

However, for those point of this discussion, for those running social sites or landing pages where just anyone can sign up without a credit card, and planning to send porn mail, you may want to be mindful of those laws.

Goldmaniacs 10-19-2011 10:11 AM

Does GetResponse allow adult dating?
