When do you use nofollow mostly?
When is it a good idea to use "nofollow" and is it necessary? Does it ever help vs hurt?
|
I'm hesitant to use it all unless I must to solve a duplicate content issue. I may be paranoid but to me it screams "I'm doing SEO".
|
hardly ever...
|
I didn't think of it that way...good point. I'm debating on testing the effects of using it with some stuff. Just not sure if good or bad to do yet.
|
I use it on all affiliate links, but not on link trades
|
don't bother. link sculpting is dead if it ever worked anyway.

I use nofollow on my internal redirect scripts to stop the links being archived off, since it would cause some confusion if someone clicked a search result and it flew to a fhg on a different site. It also means I know what's going on (but alot of mine is scripted in so I don't write them in that often)
I agree that link trades need not to have it, but for everything else it works well. |
bumping this one because I have been trying to figure out how to utilize nofollow for my sites lately and it seems like something that should be used on ads / affiliate links, yet some people still advocate not using it at all... so my question to that camp is why wouldn't you use nofollow on affiliate links?

google must die

I don't use it anymore.. I think it's factor is tiny, if it has any at all anymore.
If you want to block something onsite, use a robots.txt file. If you want to block affiliate links or other external links, use the robots.txt file and 301 redirects. |
