I guess that shit was on Canadia's TV first then hi the US but I love that show...

Are the Canadian building laws n shit so fucked up or just that the people are just idiots?

Out here I know to do any remodel and so on with permits and such the inspectors are hardcore and wont pass shit unless it meets the strict codes (at least in Nassau County , NY ) for the most part...

Yeah it's a great show, too bad it's no longer being produced.

Any time I've seen the show it was just people using incompetent contractors to do the work who eventually just walked off the job because they were in over their heads.

Reminds me of a friend who just bought a small house. He found a coil of electrical wire in the attic of the garage and was going to take it down to use it for some wiring work that needed done.

Just before he grabbed it he noticed there was one end of the wire running across the attic and down to the panel below. The previous owner had hooked the coil of wire into the panel and it was live.

he wasn't sure if the person that sold it was trying to burn the place down or if he was just setting a trap for him, or maybe he was just retarded.

Hard to find, HGTV Canada only has the last three online. You can probably pick it up at Amazon for 20$

The early shows are great, it was way before they found they could make a lot of money.
Now they have a Homes on Homes magazine, websites the whole nine yards. The show did get a bit repetitive during the last season.

Its not only Canada who have fucked up contractors, the USA is full of them :Oh crap

I love Holmes. He's my hero.

Building codes are about the same here as the US. Just bad contractors getting away with shitty work.

I meet Holmes and he really is a nice guy. I was very surprised. Love the show.
