Apparently We're Going About Contacting Aliens the Wrong Way
We should be careful what we wish for...

interesting read... but seriously, if we made inter-galactic contact, who cares what we say, it would be hundreds of years before we could possibly hear anything back even if they reply with "fuck off"
|
That would be a pretty cool way to die I guess.

It may sound crazy, but I am starting to think that we will make contact with another universe or dimension way before we make contact with aliens. If you follow cutting edge physics and mathematics, it is becoming pretty clear that we are surrounded by an almost infinite number of universes and dimensions. This isn't far out fantasy either, this is from the top scientific minds at institutions like Harvard and MIT.

I know this because my father works at area51. |
The article is about the Protocol used, nothing else. Its an interesting idea and makes sense to me.
Sending signals out into space is a cool idea but also kind of useless. If the target is 25,000 light years away, that means it takes 25,000 years to arrive. If they use the same method of communication we won't hear anything back for at least another 25,000 years. What is REALLY interesting is Nasa's announcement that the Kepler telescope has found several planets only about 2000 light years away that are in the "Goldilocks zone", meaning they might be warm enough for liquid water, and therefore life. All we have to do is turn our other telescopes towards these planets and look for any kind of light or other electromagnetic radiation that appears to be artificial. Even though we're seeing a planet these planets as they were 2000 years ago (their light took 2000 years to reach us), its really possible we can see signs of life and possible, alien communication, much easier and quickly on these planets. |
We live on a farm. In this huge universe they need farms so as they can stop by to grab some resources. We see them in the sky but they don't get in contact as Planet Earth is just a farm; nothing special!
